Did someone help you become a writer?

Did anyone help you become a writer?  Perhaps a teacher or a friend?  Do you give anyone credit for your love of writing?

I must give credit to my husband.  When I was in school, I hated to write.  It just seemed like a huge chore for me.  But now I love it.  I think that part of that reason is that my husband likes to write.  He has been writing for years, and a short while after we moved in together, he asked me to proofread his book he had written.  Once I read that, I was like wow this is really cool.  It was then that I wanted to write and have that feeling of accomplishment that I knew he must have had.

That was about 17 years ago.  Now, looking back, I am surprised at how much content I have written.  From blogs to forums, being a ghostwriter to having clients of my own.  It is just an amazing thing.  I love it and am truly blessed that I have the knack of writing.

I think that I just learn to write in school before since it was really a hobby and a passion for me a long time ago. It was really helpful for me because I am able to earn few pennies from my writings and I really enjoyed it very much.

It was through the school also that I have learned writing.

My teachers taught me and made me love to write. Writing just came with reading plenty of books. I loved reading so much. That will definitely make a writer.

I learned to write in school too as you do. The knowledge that is associated with writing papers is useful knowledge that is given in school. I practiced writing papers when I was studying at school. I was writing papers on my own and then I was sending my written papers for checking to the service that proposes essay writing help Paperial that works now. Professionals who work for the service were checking my papers and were returning the corrected documents to me. I was studying my mistakes and was learning how to write without mistakes. Similar practice of writing was successful.

Not really. For me, for as long as I can remember, writing was my passion. I really just pursued it myself, and since it was something I loved doing anyway it's not like I found that pursuit to be difficult.

Of course, I've had writers that have inspired me along the way, so I guess you could classify that as help!

Wow! That is great for you. I like to have that passion of writing too.

Most people have a passion for writing and so they write. I had a passion for writing. It has always been there.

Yes, for me writing has always been the way I’ve expressed myself. At this point in my life not writing would feel like not breathing.

I will give the credit to my English and literary studies teachers from high school to college I think they did a great job of motivating me to take my writing task seriously. I know I used to be so lazy to write until I was denied my lunch for 2 days in high school and I had to sit up by force. That really helped to mould me for today.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

menchuuy58
That is right. I am also thankful for my English teachers in high school and college.

You must surely have had very good language teachers. These are the ones who help very much.

My teachers also assisted me very much.

The teachers are really the big factors to our improvement. We wouldn't realize the errors that we made and we wouldn't even learn how to correct them without the guidance of our second parents.

Actually, no. On the contrary, when I was young I wanted to be a writer. I was aged 6 when I began to write my first books (with poor grammar obviously), and I had like 20 of them made by the age of 12. Eventually though, my father told me that no one reads books nowadays, and I wouldn't be able to earn money that way. So it demotivated me, and I stopped doing it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It is really good if there is someone that can motivate us to write.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Is it true that no one reads books? Maybe it is true. There are others who enjoy a goid reading.

It's not that people don't read books, but many do it in a virtual form nowadays. But let's be honest, people rarely read books nowadays overall, and also, they're even lazy to listen to audiobooks as well. Many don't have the intellectual demand nor time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

angie828
Oh no! Sorry you were demotivated. I would have to say that I do not really agree with your father. There are so many people that read these days. Many love a good book and would rather have a book in their hands then a kindle or tablet. I urge you to write if that is what you desire to do. Obviously, you have wanted to write for a very long time. It is so neat that you were writing when you were six!

Whatever you decide to do, I wish you the best of luck. I do hope you get back into writing like that. You never know, you may just have the next best seller!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Well to be honest, I never really stopped. But I rather write nowdays for fun, for myself and family. Let's be honest, previously being a writer could give you a prosperous career, but nowadays, it doesn't give so much income. Anyhow, I appreciate your comment. You should know that I write fan fiction mostly now. Did someone help you become a writer?
Though my previous ambitions were huge novels.

What got me into writing was a writing contest. I didn't even know that I could write well but our school was competing against one of our fiercest rivals and this is what drove all the students in our class to write the best flash fiction they could.

The story I wrote was rather impressive though I must admit parts of it were plagiarized (not something I'm proud of to be honest). But emerging as the winner made me realize that I could write and from then on, I fell in love with writing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

menchuuy58
Wow! Congratulations to you. I have not experienced being a winner in a writing contest yet.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

knnon
Congratulations! I think they chose you for your writing skill and the didn't really think much of the plagiarized parts. Unless of course uniqueness of the story/originality was part of the criteria. I only entered contests during my High School years, I stopped during my College years as there was no one to encouraged me to join.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jeane
There are some writing contests which offer cash prizes or some other reward like having your story published in an anthology. For most of them you'll have to fork out an entry fee to participate which is why most of these online contests aren't that great.

I'd prefer a writing challenge like NanoWrimo because at the end of the month your hard work will be rewarded with something tangible - you'd have written a novel by the end of the month.

Yeah, I learned the skill of writing from my mentor. I actually still do. No matter how talented you are, there are some ropes you have to learn. Call them rules and techniques for better writing. If you don't learn them, you could have the most amazing idea but lack the proper form to sell it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jeane
Mentors are great and every writer should try find one because there's much you could learn from them.

There is someone I know who met a movie writer on some forum and this writer taught her a number of things she didn't know about screenwriting. Less than a year later, she sold a script in her homeland (India). Maybe she'd still be writing horrible scripts and trying to sell them if this person hadn't offered to be her mentor.

My love for writing started early. But there is one person who helped me hone my skill even more. She's my English teacher when I was in High School. We would often trade poems and stories and read each other's work and comment on them. She always enjoyed reading my work and she encouraged me to send in my poems to contests and such.

I don't have any influence in writing. Mostly of my write-ups were rejected during my secondary years. I am empty headed when it comes to article or essay writing. However, I know I can write poems. I am always hesitant to share or join because my teacher preferred standard style of composition. It was in college days when freestyle writing was introduced. But, I never tried to developed my skills in writing. I only enjoyed reading articles and poetry.

I love writing poems. But that hobby doesn't really inspire me to become a writer. Actually there was no one help me to become a writer but there are a lot of people who inspires me to write. Most of them are the author of my favorite books. Because of their works I was inspired to write to inspire others also.

I am not fond of writing before because I know I have a lot to work on my writing skills but I had this teacher who seems to appreciate my poems. That was the time I've been motivated to write. Well no one inspired or helped me to start Writing. I used to write good speeches and essays when i was in my school and i simply loved to read books all the time. I would say that i will credit my language teachers in my school who inculcated the habit of reading and writing in all the students.

I am very thankful that my writing skills were developed at school which serve us my stepping stone to start writing which I really love the most. For me, I study for myself. I read lots of books that can help me grow my vocabulary and I read lots of different contents from different writers. It helps me improve my own writing skills and I also gain new knowledge about things and be able to learn about different views and ideas. It really helps contribute to my own growth. It widens and increases my learning.

To be a successful one can be achieve by learning more on some seminars and advices.

Learning how to write was a basic teaching in schools. Kids practiced the alphabet until they could form words on their own. We'd then move on to vocabulary enrichment. This goes on until we become competent writers.

Yes. Up to this day, I am still learning. People are still learning. We grasp new information and experiences everyday. Thus, we grow as an individual and as a writer.

I'm not going to say that I'm an experienced writer because growing up most people ridiculed my writing. My teachers said that I was a bad writer, but I didn't let that bother me. I practiced my writing and began learning new words. Thus, after a lot of hard work, I was able to take my writing ability to another level.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's really nice of you to share. I've also had a similar experience. Writing at first seems like a difficult thing to accomplish. Our early works are filled with grammatical mistakes and poor sentence construction. But as we grow up, we gradually become better writers.

Yes, the more you write the better you get. It's all about learning from your mistakes and improving.

We care too much about other people's opinions, and as a result, we don't have the confidence to take action. If we have a dream, we should pursue it regardless of what others say.

Well, the one who really inspired me to write was not my parents not my teachers. It was my cousin. Back when I was young and was struggling with every bring-home essays and speeches, I always ask for help from my cousin who was 2 years older than me. She used to live with us, so it's easy to reach out to her. The majority of the speeches and essays that I brought to school and being appreciated by my classmates were because of her. When I reached 10th grade, she went to Japan to be with her family. That made me sad but that also made me stand on my own. I challenged myself to rely on my skills and aimed to always improve myself. It was tough yet fulfilling.

I dont think anybody helped me become a writer. instead I have learned on by writing small stuff. And that helps me be a good writer in the due process. I have yet to release my short stories. But honestly. I am going to do that in 2019. I hope that I get enough content so that I can publish in that case. I guess writers are not made but they happen in the process.

Reading exposed me to good works by great writers.Since writing is a good source of income, I did enough research and online courses in addition to what I learned at school and I was good for the road.No one inspired me to write,my mother always encouraged me to read.

That's so sweet. Our parents can be a good influence on us. I'm glad your mom encouraged you to read. I've found that reading is the primary foundation which we build our writing on.

After all, we can only ever write as much as we've done a good amount of reading. Vocabulary is key.

When I joined writing sites my mind was focused on the grammar. I had wanted to improve my written English because my boss said that it is better if I would enroll in a short course. But I decided to just be freelancing so that I wouldn’t get bored. Maybe I can say that my boss in the office was the one who helped me to become a writer.

My love for writing can only be credited to the numerous writers whose works I have read over the years. To those whose works were so interesting and captivating that i wanted to be like them and to others whose works were below the standard I expected for letting me realize that I could do better if I only put in more effort. I believe the more you read, the better your writing will be.

No. I hated writing when I was in high school because my teacher was terrible. He only wanted to to grammar and the literature was basically non-existent when it comes to his classes. That was really a shame. But, things changed after I finished high school. I gradually grew to love writing. I read a lot of books when I started going to college, I watched many documentaries and TV series. One TV series and its perfect script was what made me love the process of writing and I realized this when I started writing a script for my own TV series. It is still a script for mini TV series, but I managed to finish it after a long period of time. But it feels so rewarding nowadays and I was really happy when I finished it! There is something beautiful about something you write. Poetry, book, script, whatever. And if there is no one to help you, let me tell you: You can write whatever you want to on your own! Trust me! Just be patient and everything will be fine.

The teacher on my course became my mentor and he helps me out from time to time with my writing.I can say that without him i would not have become a writer. I owe my love for writing to the author of my favorite book. I managed to get through my depression because of his books and I ended up getting inspired to do the same thing and use my words to help those who were once like me. But I have always thought that writing was such a big task and it's something very impossible to do. I once believed only extraordinary, amazing people can do it. But I had a high school classmate who shared the same love for books as me and she showed me her own novels and stories. It made me realize how writers are people too. They are extraordinary and amazing individuals who were also ordinary and average in their own way and yet they took up their pen and broke the barrier that labelled them as ordinary. I started writing after that and yes, it is very very very hard but I love it and I want to continue writing until the day I breathe my last.

I had a teacher in middle school. His name was Patrick Johnson, he was a literature teacher. When I was writing school essays, he motivated me and gave quite useful pieces of advice. He also said that a was very good at essays and I will be a good writer because I have a big potential. Now I'm working with https://essaypro.com/ in a good position and do what I love. Despite Patrick has gone two years ago, I give big thanks to him in my soul/

Dear angie828, I've been so pleased to read your post which is full of love and passion for writing! It's a big deal finding your destination in life — and in your and your husband's case writing is none other than your true destination. As for your question, I learned to write with the help of a brilliant online tutor from this website. She advised me on essay structure a lot and explained how I can reach the heart of my audience with simple but touching words. I have never written books, only articles, but I'm happy and proud to have enhanced my writing skills a lot since I started taking these classes.
