To me I’d be wanting to consider the domain name first. A lot of the time ensuring you have a catchy and succinct domain name is a big part of future success and the ability to be easily remembered by clients or potential clients! That’s number one for me.

Three things: content, design, domain.
You can't have one without the other two (unless your website is for personal use, rather than a full scale audience).

Oh, I have to agree with you. These three things are the main factors that you have to plan out well. If you mess up with one of these, you'll be having problems in no time.

Yes, Theresa, You're right on point.
I speak as a first hand witness, because me and my friend tried setting up a website, and we've put a good effort into the content, but the design wasn't so good, and the domain kept having problems. Eventually we began to lose our traffic and influx of newcomers.

Oh that's so sad to hear. How were you able to cope with the loss? What did you do to fix the problem? Would you mind sharing it here?

For me the process starts with going to YouTube and watching the Wix who deal with website creation.

I am not an expert into this field but I think is that domain should be the first of all since I believe that it is the basic that should be incorporated for having a website. Then design and content is to follow so that we can come up with a great website.

Well, there are a lot of things to consider upon setting up a website. But, one thing that you should do before going to the first step is to ask yourself, do you really know what you're doing? If yes, then, what are you waiting for, start your plan. If no, then, what should you do first to make it work and make yourself prepared in the battle? You should contemplate before entering a new world.

Start with the content.

Launch a website without content and it will take a long time before you start seeing traffic coming your way. Launch with lots of content already posted and you'll find it easier to promote your site because the people you'll be directing to this site will at least find something they can read when they land there.

Some webmasters even go a step further. They do a lot of guest blogging long before they launch their sites and in doing so, establish themselves as an authority in their niche. Some manage to, through guest blogging only, to build an email list, subscribers who'll be notified when their new blog launches. When the blog is launched they already have an audience. It's something anyone could try.

I dont know about others, but the thing that takes me to any website is the product or service they are offering. I think the domain name and the UI are quite important, but only if what you're selling is something people are willing to buy. The average user won't remember your domain name, but they will remember what they got, and how easy it was to get it. Or otherwise.

I agree with you. The same with me, I can't even remember the name of the website because I don't look at them, I just go to the search engine and look for something up. If I saw something that answers my problem, I click it. Domain names are not really of importance especially for people who are desperate to look for a product, service or just an answer to a question.

I think, if I am going to make a website I need to consider what kind of product or services to engage. My purpose and target market. This is important to know the sense of direction. This will give a clear vision on what the site is all about. This avoid confusion on readers/audience/customers. I also consider the content and designs. It should be creative to attract people's attention. Plus, it must be mobile friendly.

Content! What are you going to put on the site? Are you able to write it yourself?

If you are not able to write it yourself, you need to find a good writer who can add value to your site. You want content that is full of useful information, yet you also want something that others may not know. Look for a writer who can deliver great content that will draw visitors to your site.

Along with articles, you will also want to make sure you find images and/or videos that go with your articles. This will break up the article and provide more information and visuals for those visiting your site.

I have plans of having my own website early next year for the affiliate marketing that is on my mind for a time now. An e-commerce site for the housing the products that I will promote in my affiliate marketing will also have a blog. But my main consideration now is the cost because I have to pay for the domain name and also the hosting. They are both annual expenses that I have to be prepared to pay.

I have the same question in mind. Thank you for opening this up. I am learning a lot. For me though the first thing you need to consider before you set up a website is the money needed for you to be able to invest. You need to pay for the website hosting and the like. After that, you work on the content and branding of your website.
