Back in 2012, I used to listen to online radio, then took a break for years. But, after joining the freelance world, I started listening to online radio, up to date. What pushed me to listen to online radio is the option of choosing the station you want to listen to in various countries.

I hate the boring adverts by the normal radios in my country. The difference between the two is the ability to choose even the genre that you want to listen to. Again, change is always good, thus I do listen to the local radios once in a while because all I need is music without interruptions.

That is definitely true. You have the freedom to choose which channel you want and less advertisement too when it comes to online radio.

I agree with you, also a lot of online radio doesn't have ad so your music stream is continuing.

Yes, I agree with you, I listen to the radio for a random music, not really on the DJ. Tho there are some DJ that is entertaining, but what I love about radio is the random music that they are playing.

mark8625
I love listening to the Dj also with a sense of humor. There are segment where there are callers and they need to tell something that is related to the topic given by the Dj. I am really enjoyed listening to them.

Yes I agree with you and I also enjoy doing that, it is very common on my location to listen to some radio station because it give us some entertainment and relaxation for a while. Sometimes I do greet to their text line which is pretty cool to have since other people do recognize me lol.

I hate the long commercial when I am listening to a radio, I will definitely skip on that channel if it has a lot of advertisements to it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Everyone hates a long commercial specially when you are not interested to the advertisement. I hate adds too.

me too, sometimes it is annoying and repetitive.

The radio stations have a big overhead in expenses so they really need the advertisements. I’m also annoyed by too many commercials that the tendency is for me to change stations when I am listening my car’s radio. But I am also annoyed by the DJ who talks incessantly like he is the show and not the music. I have yet to try online radio because I don’t use my phone for the internet when I am traveling on the road.

I have not yet listened to an online radio. I have listened to traditional radio in public transportation and department stores here in our place. I don't know how to connect with online radio yet.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
To connect in online radio at least you have a good wifi signal so that you could listen to it without buffering. If you have that, all you need to do is to search online radio in the google search and eventually there are many links there. Click the desire link you want and there you are on the online radio.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

focusedwriter10
True, strong wifi is essential if you want to enjoy listening to online radio. Otherwise, you may get disappointed if your signal is weak due to interruptions as a result of buffering.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Exactly. You cant enjoy listening to online radio if you are using low quality of internet. That is why I suggested that you need a good wifi.

That's why I used to have my favorite musics on my laptop or phone so I could play it without any problem especially if I'm in the place that no internet connection. Listening to online radio is good only for a place that has stable internet connection.

I am in agreement that an online radio solely depends on the connection. However, online radio offers a lot of content. Basically on all topics. In terms of music, there are so many songs. I used to record an entire show.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes, if internet connection is stable, there would be no problem listening to online radio. Another of online radio streaming is, it will not consume big amount of memory as you play all the song that you like to listen.

That is right. Data can be used but it will eat all your load balance after all. So much better to listen in an fm/am radio or to your playlist song.

As podcasts take a seat at the main fringe of generation and data, folks that are clients of podcasts will frequently be more aware of the changes in lifestyle. Season certainly one of Serial spawned many debates online and on the workplace. People who weren’t being attentive to Serial soon discovered themselves out of the loop on a main point of debate in our culture. Popular podcasts of any genre may be a factor of debate for the Christian and non-Christian alike. Like song or sports activities, these conversations may be used as bridges to gospel conversations.

I am a K-Pop Music listener and I live in the Philippines so the only way for me to listen to K-Pop Radio is to stream them online. However, I don't think I prefer online Radio that much because there are instances that it can be interrupted with problems like the unstable internet speed. In terms of comparison with the traditional radio, I guess the only difference is the number of ads that are being played. Traditional radio stations have way more advertisements compared to the online radio stations based from my observations.

They play kpop song in local radio but it is rare, and I agree with you that kpop fans rely on online radio to listen to kpop songs.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jaybee19
True. They only play the most popular ones like the songs of BTS and in the past, songs of 2NE1, BigBang, EXO and Girls Generation. Recently, Momoland and BlackPink's songs are also played but just like what you wrote, it's very rare and it takes a request for those local radio stations to play Korean Pop songs.

It is obviously that internet connection in the Philippines is one of worst. I am sure that you would not enjoy listening online because of the buffering of slow wifi connection.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Exatly sir Mark8625. I can't actually experience buffers when I'm at home because my house's internet connection is a Fibr connection. However, whenever I'm at school or in public places, the internet becomes really slow and I guess it's because of the traffic and the improper placement of infrastructures here in the Philippines.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Good thing you have a Fibr internet connection. I am using it and it gives me a good wifi connection. I would suggest to everyone to use Fibr because it is very good specially to us who is working from home.

I am a fantasy premier league manager and listening to some podcast is one of the ways that we get to hear news on the best tips and decisions to take. To be honest, the last time that I tried to listen to one of them, I couldn't go five minutes and I have to turn it off. It is something that I not used to at the moment.

I guess it is due to the fact once you get into Kpop you discover something considered more “musically exciting” or simply something that fits your fashion. I imply for me, I began off by locating endless and the first time I listened to it I couldn't stop. I kept on replaying and replaying. Then after finding simply one track I discovered another endless track, then started out finding other kpop songs that I honestly favored over American pop then BAM I'm addicted. can't stop listening.

I rarely listen to radio online. If I wanted to listen music, I prefer to download it on my laptop or my phone. With this I could listen anytime as I wanted. No need to connect with the internet just to listen.

@martinsx1 that's a really good idea! I listen to quite a few podcasts and TED talks, and I find them really inspiring for generating new ideas. I never thought to do the same from radio program content but it's a smart strategy!

I am also a big fan of a TED talk and it is awesome. The purpose of watching it is to expand each individual understanding and perspective of life and problem. A few talks introduce a completely new issues, just like the one you’re not familiar with. At the same time as others cope with a familiar subject matter, however the present new subjects. Sometimesa talk directly confronts a protracted held perception and permits you to reconsider your own opinion.

Those old radios are definitely good enough. And people who want to understand more about having a better system for the communication. So on that note I'd say that listening to online radio instead of amazon music and spotify is better. The old radio listening is lost art now.

I think transistor radios are phase out now. I did not see any kind of this in the market. I agree that its better to listen to online radio compared to other online music app because these online music app has only limited songs to listen and with additional payment but online radio has too many radio stations worldwide and you can able to listen for free.

I have never tried to listen to an online radio since mostly I am listening to offline radio station in my locality. It might be good for other people that are far from their hometown since it helps them to stay connected on their favorites radio stations especially nowadays that we are now in the modern age of technology. Maybe if I would be also alone in my country or hometown I would try to listen online radio.

Digitally imported radio is what I listen to when working online. It is electronic radio channel for specific music genre. And it seems like a good option for those who are into listening to music and building their own interest around. I have learned that some of the time it can be really good enough on the listening and browsing side. I'd say on that note it can be really good enough to listen to free and the subscription based radio service.

I started listening to online radio in 2008, i was still very much attached to my laptop back then. What's great with internet radio is that there are hundreds of channels to choose from around the globe and it played a non stop mix of my favorite music genres, which was New Wave, Bossa Nova and Rock I stopped listening to it in 2013 when I bought my first iPad mini and was hooked on iTunes.

I prefer to listen to the Pandora or Spotify Apps via my iPhone. I never really listen to online radio stations because with these apps I am in total control of what stations I want to listen to. If I want to listen to a certain song I can just search for the song and listen to it other then waiting for it to play.

I think the old radio as we knew it over 10 years ago is dying out. This is strongly due to such apps like Pandora or Spotify. Everyone I know either has Pandora or Spotify installed on their phones. I do not know anyone who listens to the car radio anymore as with Bluetooth you can easily connect your phone to your car's computer and play whatever it is that you want.

Sirius XM may not be an online radio station as it were, but it is getting phased out. They basically beg people to signup to their services which sound tell you something about the radio stations that offer some form of payment.

Ah, the Spotify app is awesome! I love that there are playlists for all manner of different tastes...I'm honestly a sucker for the 90's playlists, but there are motivational ones, workout ones, romance/love song ones...you can find a playlist for whatever your mood is. It's helped me discover a bunch of different music I like, as well as giving me all the nostalgic feels from older songs, too!

I'm a fan of radio but not online radio. I can't focus on listening to the radio if I am browsing everything on the internet. I prefer to listen to the stories using the traditional radio because that's how I like it to be done. The difference of the online radio would be it don't use frequency waves compared to traditional radio where they have satellites on.

I listen to radio all the time. if I'm at one place, say at home or in the office , I'd rather listen to normal radio. Online radio works when you're away from home say in our cyber cafe, or in a coffee shop. I like listening to radio on my radio because I like the sound, I like the sound the experience on huge speakers. Online radio will probably be on your laptop or on your phone which doesn't have great listening experience.

No, I don't. First of all, I am in a country that has a very poor service of internet connections. So, thinking of listening to online radio is a pain in our heads already. I prefer to just listen to the radio, anyway, I can listen to my favorite station even through my phone as there is a built-in radio app for smartphones. I don't intend to make myself suffer from internet connection just to get an update from an online radio. I prefer the traditional way, the hassle-free one.

Yes I agree with that, having a poor and unstable internet connection may hinder us from accessing the online radio if we want to listen to it. Online radio is way better, because number 1, is you have a freedom to choose not just only in your country but in others too. Number too is convinient since if your freelancing and using computer just use alt tab and click the next botton and thats it, you dont need to stand up or extra move. Number 3, is energy saving using another device which radio then while your doing online jobs, its just a waste of energy.

I think listening to a radio online is a good idea and a good experience to have because before I was only listening to a battery cassette tape which is really far and could be outdated now due to the advancement of technology that we have for now. I have tried listening to an online radio and it was really interesting because you can see your favorite disc jockey unlike in the old cassette that you will just hear what they are saying. It was a good experience because we will able to know them whenever we have the chance to see them in person in the future.
