How Do You Get More Traffic From Forums?

Forums can and will always be a good place to interact with people who may be interested in visiting your website or blog, even if that isn't the sole purpose of your being a member of that forum.

Most forum owners nowadays make it a lot harder to promote your sites directly preferring instead to limit you to a backlink on your profile page. That isn't so bad because depending on how you engage with the community, there'll be a number of people who'll want to know more about you and will for that reason visit your profile page. And maybe they just might visit your site.

But if you aren't satisfied with promoting your website primarily via your profile page, what are some good strategies to draw traffic to your site from the forums you actively participate in?

In my opinion, everything regarding forums is pretty much whipped out ever since social media took off and ever since social media groups become a thing.

I'm not saying there aren't active forums out there. I'm just saying the number of active forums is a lot smaller compared with 15 years ago and the ones that did survive are basically unbreakable spam fortresses.

It is pretty much impossible to register and publish any type of link. You basically need to become an active member, reach a well-deserved level before gaining the authority to post links or promote something.

Also, most of the members are very wary of newcomers and will not trust you. Everything you first say and a post will be moderated and closely inspected. Moderators and Admins have an actual fear of anything even new promotions so they'll act against anything that is even closely similar.

This is why I believe wasting 4 weeks and becoming active on certain forums just to post a link that may or may not stick and may or may not bring you traffic is not really worth the gamble. I'm not saying you should stay away from forums, but the old way of posting on forums and building forum links (the non-spam way) is pretty much dead because of the level of difficulty it now involves.

I think all this effort can be put to better use, like guest posting. Or even trying posting on social networks, like Reddit for example. Actually, Reddit has both dofollow links and can bring you a huge number of visits, you can even go viral with Reddit. You just need to understand the community and know what kind of content to share there.

Hope that everything I said makes sense. If you guys have examples of successful forum based campaigns, please do share them below, especially the technique you used.

I have also noticed that the number of forums are dwindling It may be the direct competition with Facebook Group because I have joined some groups in Facebook with dynamic posts and active members. I can’t see much of a difference from a forum except for the design and the boards because in Facebook Groups there are no boards but just one timeline that is similar to the bulletin board in the early years of the internet.

Well you can target a forum which topic is related to your site. If your site is all about fishes then go to a forum about fishes or aquariums and try to become an authority in it. Time will come that you can openly promote your site in that forum.

I actually had an aquarium niched blog a few years before and it actually worked great with forums related to this niche. But I tried doing the same thing a few months ago and most aquarium related forums are now dead. Everything moved to social and I actually was able to bring a lot more traffic from aquarium facebook groups, Reddit groups, and even discord groups but almost none from forums, all the popular ones are now bearly active.

I think that's one of the trends that is proving difficult for forum owners - the movement towards more Facebook groups or Reddit groups on the topic rather than dedicated forums. I don't know that there's an easy way to stop that migration, sadly.

It could be the natural evolution of online media. It's really hard to stop something that's already happened. I guess people are more comfortable in Reddit. I can definitely see the appeal. Its simplicity gives way to lots of conversations.

Register your forum to a website like postloop, becuase if someone is registered on postloop they can see your website there and post on some articles, at the same time, if they post on that website, postool will pay them each post, so they really need to post on that website to earn more points, by that you will have lots of traffics from that forum.

This. However, to gain organic traffic, a forum owner must do marketing, SEO (backlinks), etc. People would not know your forum if they are not aware it exists.

Suggesting to host the site on Postloop is a very good option because there are so many writers on Postloop where once your site is enabled, there will definitely be thousands of people who are willing to push traffic to your site by visiting it on daily basis. There are other sites like postloop where one can host his or her forum but postloop is the best. Using social media to generate traffic is also another good option.

I agree that using forums to get more traffic is no more one of the top traffic generators except for forum owners who use comments on their website to improve their ranking on Google and link their forums to their money making websites. Off course they are some forums that allow you to post your links to get traffic, but they require you to pay. I agree that forums are dead, taken over by social media. We can't get away from that.

You have a very good point about everything you just mentioned on forums suffering a great deal of downside as a result of the effects of social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc today.

The growth of usage of all these social media sites have negatively impacted on the reliance of people on forums. It's only the few that still appreciates the values of forums that still makes use of it.

For me it is not the decent traffic source. The reason being many forums don't like adding links into the replies. So that limits the way I can promote. Most of my traffic comes from quora. And for me that really works out on most of the answers. I have also managed to find some forums where link sharing in context is allowed. So I think traffic through forums is not easy and it is more or less hit and miss.

The truth is that getting the desired traffic that a forum owner seeks for his or his own site would never come easy. It would have been a lot easier if links and signatures are allowed in every site but there are some reasons why they are not. So, it's going to be requiring a lot of work especially on the part of the forum owner to keep the site up and running in order to be able to have more visitors coming to the site and serving as organic traffic.

I think content and the people both needs to be managed. But the thing is that the forums which have restrictions on the linking to other site. That seems to be not that effective. Most of the people don't understand that often such restriction stops them from promoting their forums. And that means it's not going to be that easy for the forum owner too with the rules. So those links are not easy.

At first you need to search and find out the right and correct forums from the Google search engines. After getting a list you have to start registering with the forums. You need to remember the forum should need to be specific category based must. After that you have to follow the forum rules to get the original benefit. At first if you get the forum registration chance with the website than you have done one important white hat SEo related works. Like Profile back link or forum signature. It will increase your website position on search engine result page day by day and moreover it will increase the website page rank day by day. Secondly when you get chance to the forum post than you will hyperlink your website with important keyword. Important keyword means which have high volume of records. Important keyword based back link or hyperlink will generate huge traffic for your website for the life time. At after few months later you will get forum post reply option and there you will use the same technique with quote and you will generate huge traffic day by day.

Thanks
Centurion

Interacting with the forum members and getting to know them. You are supposed to buld a good relationship.

Write powerful thought provoking articles. This will really assist.

Some forum owners make the grave mistakes of ignoring his or her forum members. This is very wrong because such members would feel that they are worth being valued by the forum owner who simply ignores them.

Give time to replying some of their posts. It must not be all but at least try and engage them in conversation and see them always come back for more.

Some Website owners feel they are placed higher than their contributors to care about them. After all they are numerous.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's not really the case my friend. There are some situations where there would be lots of visitors in one's forum and which would in return comes with lots of interaction and posts. It's definitely going to be very hard for the forum owner to reply all chatters going on in the site. Although, I have seen some forums where in order to reduce the work load of replying posts, the administrator would hire moderators to help him or her with the replies.

You need to find the forums that are related to your website. Participate in and contribute to the community and share your thoughts with others. Post some useful information. You can build a good relationship by having a good conversation with the members and probably find a business partner.

It all falls on offering high quality contents in your forum in order to have something that will lure visitors to your site and keep them. If you have a good and well designed forum but fails to keep it pumped up with high quality content on daily basis, it's going to be very hard to get more traffic and even a lot harder to keep the little traffic you manged to get.

I learn a lot from reading forums. Most of the contributors of the forum I joined are quite generous in sharing their knowledge and we as a learner benefits from it. I will continue reading forums as long as their are people who contribute their time and expertise and share with others.

I think the point is if you get traffic from it for the blog or so. Is it acting as a traffic source for you. I think that seems to be the question here the reason being the traffic from forums is not that consistent for most people. And that's what most of the people want to avoid if possible as traffic can be wasted as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
Exactly! Forums are just like a more mature and regulated as well as informative and interactive platform. People come to forums and blogs when they are looking for a more accurate information to their inquiries unlike the baseless chatters that go up and down in social media. So, if one's forum offers high quality information, there is every possibility of getting much traffic to the site.

Most forums have "Signatures". These are like notes that appear on every post you make on the forums. Most forums I frequent are pretty lenient in promoting sites on the signature part. Most people even fill out their signatures with their own sites and referral links to gain hits. I agree with this type of traffic as even I have clicked on links in signatures as I wanted to know more about the person.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
Exactly! I think that I mentioned this a while in one of my previous comments about how useful forum signatures are when it comes to being effective in getting a forum owner to promote and advertise his or her forum in a large scale through guest posting. Personally, I have get to see and know about more forums through signatures.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

rlpzbeermoney
I even wish this forum had signatures so we can advertise services for free. Even open up opportunities using referral links. Though there are people who abuse this feature I'm not gonna lie. Some people use short links to mask dangerous websites in their signatures.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
I believe that one of reasons why signatures aren't allowed here is to avoid some sort of spam and excessive promoting of other sites without going through the proper channels of SEO Clerks marketplace. And also just like you mentioned that some people use short links to mask dangerous websites in their signatures and I believe that this platform don't want to give room for it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

rlpzbeermoney
That sucks. Well we'll just have to settle for other ways of advertising then. But I really think this forum will benefit from having signatures. An overall look in the forum structure would be nice also. We just need some sort of checking program for the websites.

Ask help from the third party sites like postloop, because people in postloop is mandated to click on that forum and post something in there if that forum is registered in postloop. Because they can earn money just by sharing their thoughts on that forum.

If the forum niche is something that is very interesting and can be very useful to most people on Postloop, I'm definitely sure that getting the forum hosted on Postloop will most certainly get it more traffic because there are so many writers on the platform that very eager to visit and post on such forums.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

There are so many ways of generating traffic to one's forum and one of mostly used techniques is with constant promoting and advertising of one's forum. You can carry out these promotional campaigns on any social media sites and you can still use your forum signature to do it as when engaging in guest posting in other forums.

Social media is huge - it's such a great way of advertising your business for free if you do it right. Of course, there are paid options on social media too, to further promote things (if you want to go down that path) but I think if you can do it for free it's even better!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
Yes, you are very correct my friend with that assertion on getting to use social media sites to promote one's online business and be successful at it as long as you know what you are doing following the right campaign to get maximum results. Both the free and option are good depending on how you use them.

Nice suggestion! How can we forget about the power of different social media sites nowadays! Promoting in that platforms are actually helpful if you are also a keen user of those sites. Because I also agree that it is not so easy to promote in that very big community and how will convince them,

I know that some sites don't allow any kind of promoting your site so if you think you are restricted then you can just leave the forum and find one thatvwill cooperate with what you desire. Forum owners should understand that a restrictive forum is not good for site owners who are contributors to the content.

Its good to start forum that will the attention of every customer as your target to your business. Something like if your target are teens, try some forum that are so trending for them or you can get from social media. From women, you can start beauty cosmetics and they will love the forum so much. and lets say for gents, they you can try latest fashion, in demand business, politics, foods, stay fit, that something will definitely make them join and visit the website to respond on forums everyday.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jpyy
I think some of the responses are a bit too negative. In fact, there may be less powerful forums, but that's not saying it isn't easy to get traffic on them. For instance, on one unnamed forum you can post ads which can easily gain hundreds or thousands for views - absolutely free - and if you upgrade, you can bump more often. OK. who has tried that or something similar?

Forums can really help us to increase traffic in our website or blog as long it is very active and well known from all around the world. The success in gaining more traffic lies on how reliable and stable a certain forums. Many people patronize it because it is very convenient and entertaining.

You could advertise your site to the forums where it can be related to. People would want to know more about their topic and with you joining them could make them interested especially when they saw that you have the knowledge that they need. They will definitely go to youe profile and there they will see your link and pay a visit there. You could also offer some solutions to those people asking in forums about a certain thing. You just have to provide a little bit information that will lure them to your profile page then to your site.

There are a lot of new forums that are circulating in the web but only few of them stay for a longer period of time. Some of them stop for a while or shutting down for a lifetime due to some unknown reasons. Those old forums that are still living for today are the one that can give us more traffic. We must give importance and pay attention from it since we will benefit from it.

You can get more traffic on your forums if you will upload the URL on some social media app or website on the internet, and also by using some third-party website like postloop, where people are required to visit the website for them to get some extra income.

Forums are an awesome hotspot for getting more traffic to your blog. For different reasons, they are extremely underestimated by numerous advertisers. With the blast of web-based social networking, forums have fairly dropped out of support. It's a major mix-up to discount them. Gatherings offer some ground-breaking focal points.
