Optimizing your website for conversions is crucial if you have low traffic numbers
When it comes to making money online, it really depends on how much traffic you're getting because the more you get means the more likely you'll generate a sale. But what about those websites that are in a niche that doesn't get much traffic but they can still make a great deal of money from a website? If you're not optimizing your website for conversions, you're going to lose a lot of sales, and that could be a business killer if you're in a niche that already has low searches each month.
Having 1,000+ people to your website each day is nice, but some websites can't even hit that with penny clicks on AdWords because of how small their niche is. This means you will need to optimize more than your content if you're trying to be the authority within these niches. There are various things you can do to optimize your website for conversions, such as: Have competitive price points, Various contact options, Being responsive, and Knowing where your traffic is navigating around your website.
If you want to be the authority in a low traffic niche, try doing the few things below and you will likely see an increase in conversions
Have competitive price points, but be on the lower end
If your competitors are selling a product or service for $100 and you sell for $90, you will see an increase in conversions because people want to save money, even if it's just $10 in savings they will likely go with you if you did everything else just right.
Having a cheaper product doesn't always mean you will capture the sale. You will also need to prove you're a trustworthy option for the new customer to purchase from. You will need to be responsive to any questions that are asked. You will basically need to do everything else we will cover in this discussion
Have various ways for a customer to contact you
Take a second and go to your top competitor's website and see how many options someone has to contact them. They will likely have a contact form, a visible email that opens your emailing service if you set it up, a phone number, and probably a chat system to round it all out.
The more options you give someone when it comes to contacting you, the more likely you will get more sales each month. Giving someone more options to contact you will open up your website for them to choose their preferred method. You may like to talk with people over the phone, but the majority of your customers might like contacting you through your chat system, so be sure you have various options for them to choose from. If you limit people to just filling out a contact form or just having them call you over the phone, you will lose a lot of sales, and this is because people don't see their preferred contact method and they will leave your website.
Be responsive, always give more info, and help as much as possible
Having a responsive website is great, but being responsive to your visitors is amazing, and you will need to be on top of your emails as well as any other option of contact you give your visitors.
If you're giving people various ways to contact you, like we mentioned above, you will need to streamline this as much as possible. Get all the notifications sent to your cell phone if possible, this is what I do, and it lets me know if I need to respond right away or if I can let it sit for a few minutes. I have a chat system that goes to my cell phone, I have grasshopper that routes an 800 number to my cell phone, and I have any direct emails and contact form submissions sent to a specific email that is forwarded to my personal email that also sends notifications to my phone I can literally walk away from my laptop or desktop for the weekend and still have top-notch support because I'll have my phone on me If you can do this, you will seal more deals, and you will be more successful.
Know your heat maps and tweak your pages if needed
Understanding how people navigate around your website is great, and using heatmaps to know exactly where the hotspots of your website are is even better, so be sure to use a 3rd party service to figure this out. You can normally tell where the hotspots of your website are, which tend to be your menu bars or your side images, but you could get surprised on some of your pages.
If you see something odd in your heatmaps, this is likely due to you not knowing what pulls the attention of a visitor, and if you can configure your images and menus just right you can pull people to your product or service pages and make more money. Knowing the hotspots of your pages will help you funnel people to the right places of your website where you sell something.
If you see the majority of your visitors clicking a certain section of your website, try adding a product image/link there and see if your sales increase
Optimizing your website for conversions may sound like an easy thing to do, but you likely don't think of it when running ads or optimizing your content, and that is why a lot of businesses lose sales. You could have a PPC campaign bringing in 1,000 people a day and only converting 1% of them, which isn't that great, but if you were to optimize for conversions you could see 5% conversions Go over your website, figure out what needs to be tweaked, and fix it for better conversions!
