Target the teens now and make millions later down the road.

Not a lot of companies are targeting kids in high school, mainly because teenagers don't have regular jobs and can't spend as much online, but that is why targeting them is such a great thing to do!  Yes, they don't have the jobs that allow them to make a purchase online, and they won't make you a ton of money right now, but they are extremely active online and will more than likely share your business or website if they find it entertaining.

Teenagers can help you build a brand without you having to actually pay them, which is extremely convenient because now you have a ton of brand ambassadors who are very vocal online, especially on social media.  Below I'll cover a few things you should focus on and take note of if you're wanting to pull in a lot of teenagers in order to profit millions down the road.  You should know it's not going to be an easy thing to do, but if you're successful at this you could make thousands of dollars each day almost on autopilot Target the teens now and make millions later down the road.

Online activity for teenagers has doubled
Over the last 5 years, we've seen an increase in online activity due to smartphone technology making it easier to get online no matter where you're at.  As the prices of smartphones get lower, the number of people getting online has increased, and it's skyrocketed in the teenager age range of 13 to 19.  It's almost doubled in size in the last 5 years, making it the biggest area of growth for an age demographic, which means if you're not targeting the teenagers you probably should think of a marketing plan that will be great to pull them in Target the teens now and make millions later down the road.

Build a brand with teenagers as your demographic
If you start off targeting teens and have a website or business that caters to a need or want of theirs, you can pull in a massive amount of traffic over time, which turns into profits later on.  Think about it, most of the social platforms are getting too "mainstream" for teenagers and they don't think it's "hip" to be on there talking to their parents.  They're looking for better platforms that allow them to be free from prying eyes, and that might be where you come in.

You can either stay targeting teens or grow to accommodate their interests over time.  Facebook grew from a platform targeting college kids and expanded to the world, so you need to take notes on what they did and grow just like that.

They can't spend as much, but they can click!
You won't make as much money from teenagers buying products or services off of your website, but you will get them to click on ads if they are somewhat interested. You can use a customized advertising platform for people to advertise towards teens, but you will need a massive amount of traffic before you entice anyone to come make an advertising profile, so you might want to stick with Adsense for now since they pay per click and not per sale.

You could go the affiliate route and put up links that give you a commission whenever someone makes a purchase, but again, teenagers don't have the funds like an adult would so you might not make as many sales.

If you get the teens now, they will be loyal later (hopefully)
Again, take note of how Facebook grew online and where they started off.  They were targeting the 17 to 25 age range but didn't really think about it because they wanted to build something that their friends would use.  Over time they expanded to everyone in the world, making Facebook extremely diverse and not targeting college kids.

If you were to grow like Facebook did, you would likely have a lot of loyal teenagers sticking with you over the years.  Now, this is where the main problem comes into play because the new teenagers may not find you "hip" anymore and they could go to the next big platform.  Stay "hip" and teenagers will always stick with you!

Teens are leaving Facebook for greener pastures
Like I mentioned above, teenagers are leaving Facebook like it's a sinking ship and they're trying to save themselves.  Now, they're really leaving because they don't find it as cool as other platforms that keep them secluded from their parents and adults who make a platform "un-cool" lol.

If you can make a cool place for teenagers to hang out online, while keeping their information safe from prying eyes, you can rake in millions of dollars in ad revenue.

In conclusion
You don't need to make the next Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, etc.  you just need to make a place for teenagers to hang out online and chat with each other.  If you can make it a place where they feel safe, but it's also cool, you can bring in a lot of teenagers in a short amount of time because they will begin to share your website and that means free advertising lol.  Think of what teenagers want, act on it, and bring them into your website by the masses Target the teens now and make millions later down the road.

Targeting kids and teenagers is great marketing strategy. It's true that it will take time to pay off, but certainly it worth investment if you looking long run... Many most popular companies in the world doing just this and it's one of their biggest strategies. Perhaps, among many others, just think for a minute about McDonald and their "Happy Meal" which is created for kids. It include even little toy with every meal and automatically capture their minds to keep coming back again and again. Once they grow up, their habit concisely or subconsciously tell them to go have "Big Mac" or whatever. That's how they actually keep being popular food store even for seniors...

BTW... Did you know that these large corporations employ even psychologists in their marketing teams, so they create marketing ideas targeting special ages and groups. Nothing about it is coincidence. Color of the boxes, toys and everything else is examined to smallest detail, when it comes to marketing.

Oh man, McDonald's targets kids all of the time because they know kids will beg their parents to go in just to get some chicken nuggets or a specific toy. McDonald's actually loses money on their chicken nuggets, which means they're a loss leader, and they're only sold to get kids to bring their parents in who spend $30 for the entire family who needs to eat Target the teens now and make millions later down the road.

I knew big companies hired psychologists for their marketing, it's just not done a ton because most companies have marketing teams in place who are basically psychologists in their own right. They know who to target, what to say, how to peak their interest, and what to price the products at in order to sell the most possible Target the teens now and make millions later down the road.

I know the feeling this is so true. When my kids started to beg and give you these poor faces like, we really cannot endure it anymore haha. And we can notice its all there, from food, drinks, desserts and even added toys too. They just really know who to target with - the weakness of every parents. When it comes to fast food the main target of advertisers are the children. To think that kids have no buying power because they don’t have money of their own. But they can pester their parents for what they desire and usually the parents would give in especially when they see their children happy with what they buy for them. If you target the young ones then you have a good business coming.

The world becoming a global community has led to this phenomenon we experience in the world with teenagers activities tripled online. Check out all the social media networks, 70% of the these sites are dominated by teenage activities, so it's good to say that finding a way to target them now that they are still younger will go a long way in helping you to secure their loyalty.

I can remember well that I never had a phone, I mean any kind of phone when I was still 19 - 21 years of age. When I actually got one, it's not the type of phone that can access the internet.

But recently in our world today, kids of 10 years now makes use of highly sophisticated android phones, laptops and iPad devices. So, the world is no longer as it's used to be which makes targeting teenagers seems to be a good strategy.

Companies are not targeting teens? Really? They must have their heads in the sand. Duh! How could they not know it's harvest time? That guy who started Tumblr was ahead of the curve then. If you're age 14 you can start a Tumblr account. Tumblr is loaded with teens.

haha Target the teens now and make millions later down the road.

The only downside of targeting teens now in order to profit from them later is that you need to front the money in advertising and hope you can profit from them later on down the road. This is why a lot of bigger corporations are doing it and not a mom and pop shop type business.

Think about it, you'll have to pay for roughly 10 years of advertising before those 13 and 14 year olds to actually make large purchasing decisions. You can always sell them smaller stuff, or something that is specifically made for them and hope their parents pay for it, but that's the short game and doesn't really build customer loyalty since they aren't buying it.

I can't get the sense of this post. Companies are always targeting teens because even though they dont have the money, their parents have it. Video games, Consoles, Smartphones, Computers, Toys and other collectibles are constantly being marketed to kids and teens. If you want to tap this age group then you must have a product that they need.

I see where it's confusing, but I'm more talking along the lines of a major purchase, which is something more along the lines of a car or even a house. If bigger ticket items were marketed to teens early on, those teens would likely buy them later on down the road after seeing 5 star reviews for the last 10 years online.

Parents will always buy their kids something like an xbox or ps4, but they don't always buy them a car, which is what I'm trying to get at. Tweak your marketing now, in a fun way, and you will be able to bring teens in later on down the road who will have wanted to purchase your product for the last few years Target the teens now and make millions later down the road.

There are some products or items that are well beyond the paygrade of any teen even if their parents are the ones that purchase everything that they need. Just like it's mentioned in the above reply that parents can easily buy gaming consoles for their kids but not something like a car. So, it's a matter of priority between the parent and the child, and also the company's vision and financial capacity.

I can definitely see where this is a smart strategy - if you build that brand loyalty at a young age you can really have customers for life in certain cases/industries! Young people these days are more connected and more savvy about the world around them with the help of technology, so it only makes sense to tap into their buying power too.

Modernity is for the young and technology is showing the way. We have to admit that sooner or later, teenagers will dominate the internet users. I agree that we can invest on something that is focused on the children of today especially in the internet. In Seoul, South Korea, there is a Lotte mall that is exclusively for teenagers. It's a big building with 7 stories. Obviously, the Lotte company has the wisdom of investing on the children of today.

You can target the teen segment if your service or product is designed for them. But if your product is for adults or infants or senior citizens then how would you target teens?

There is always and will always be a way to reach out to youngsters especially the teens. The more modernized, innovative and timely a product is, the better because it will always suits their preferences. It doesn't matter if they don't have the money as long as their parents have.

Your spot on. I think the teen market is a neglected one. A good example is kylie Jenner who is set to be the worlds first youngest dollar billionaire, just from her cosmetics whose main customer was teenagers. Teens get money from their parents and they also have small jobs like babysitting and newspaper runs.Don't sell them designer offcourse, just sell them something simple and cheap.

I don't have anything targeted towards teens. I have never published contents with the teens as the potential readers. I have never promoted any products for teens. having said that I understand the potential of teen in terms of traffic and sales generation. The tees are inquisitive by nature, they are always seeking information on various areas. Teens also take a lot of interest in online purchases. If we can find products that teens are buying and then promote these products we can actually make a good money.

"If you get the teens now, they will be loyal later (hopefully)" I think it's a great long term strategy. It maybe hard in the beginning but once it hits the future will be bright for your business. It's not easy as it sounds but making something for the teens nowadays is like finding a needle in a haystack.

It is definitely a long term plan that any company who has serious about making long-term returns should look into. The reason is that most of these kids will grow up to enjoy the services that you were providing free of charge to them and this will make them to pay for the premium services.

It is true that the activities of teenagers on the internet has increased tremendously. This is one reason companies you look at targeting this case as a means of marketing their services and products, and also get them to feel interested in the long term goals of the company. This is going to make them start investing in the company when they get a job and start earning salaries.

I agree with that, because teens have fresh mind that can contribute a lot to you. They also have eagerness to do whats their interest.

Yes, I believe to it too. Teens have great impact in this generation to the society. They usually set the trends and some fields are being dominated by young people especially teens. The generation today is very modern and it continuously upgrading, people who have been showing legacy in some fields are getting younger and younger in age. Before when the technology isn't as popular as now, the adults are the targets in most businesses. But today, you have to deal with the youngster as well.

Teenagers are really so involve when the talks are all about social media. Its true they are the one who spend too much fo time just to scroll their facebook wall or their IG, thats what happening these days. I'm also part of some group from facebook and I noticed that too that more of the members are teenagers because they really love to explore! I agree they can be best target too just make sure to check what is trending for all teens, whats in and hot, games, song, band, anything that will get their interest can help to you and your website to be known and popular.

Exactly. Teens have greater impact nowadays. Sometimes, they can be such a good influencer. It's a modern time afterall that's why people who are involve of the improvements in the society are getting younger and younger in age to influence people especially in the social media world. But it still depends on the field because there are only certain fields that most teenagers are involve.

That is so true. the amount of time that an average teenager or even small kids are spending online is mind-boggling. most of this time is spent on either gaming or on the social sites. if we target these teenagers then the amount of indirect marketing they can do for you can be considerably high. most of the teenagers are very well acquainted with modern gadgets and technologies and they do promote a lot of things that they use and like with there friends online on a very large scale. targetting them will obviously be a very smart decision for anyone who wants to market their products online.

Without any doubt, this is one thing that is happening rapidly. Most kids all the world cannot are becoming addicts of phones and internet. Huge market for marketers who will take advantage of this.
