Why you need to stop worrying about your rankings and start working

Everyone that has a website, it doesn't matter if you're new or a veteran to them, is always worried about their rankings within the search engines.  Well, I'm here to tell you to stop worrying about your rankings so much and focus more on just working for your business.  If you are too worried about all of your keywords and where you rank, you will fall behind on other things like actually making a sale, and that's never a good thing.  I get it, you want to be ranked on top of each search engine for ever single keyword you're targeting so you bring in a lot of traffic and sales.  But what happens if you're too invested in building up your rankings that you forgot about your website itself?

People forget about many things when they are too focused on their rankings, and their overall business suffers because of it.  In this discussion I'll go over a few reasons for why you shouldn't worry too much about your rankings and you should just start working, and those reasons are:

Rankings come over time
If you're just starting off, you can wave at your rankings, because they're far away and not getting to you anytime soon.  You will never shoot to the top of the rankings because you have to build your authority over time, and that's a process that takes precise planning and strategy.  If you invest a ton of time into your rankings, you can actually hurt them, and then you'll really be screwed when it comes to getting free traffic.

If you focus on building up your brand, which will inevitably build some backlinks along the way, you will be working on your SEO at the same time.  Your rankings will come naturally over time, so don't worry about it too much unless you're not ranking for anything after 6+ months of building your brand.

You'll make money through other streams, not just the SERPs
People always talk about how they are targeting a specific keyword because they'll make a lot of money from it.  What they're doing wrong is setting themselves up for a year of work, with no guarantee that it will get them to rank, and they aren't working on revenue streams that are much quicker.

Don't get me wrong, I do SEO all the time for myself and my clients, but I never forget about my initial revenue streams that bring in sales right away.  If you're using PPC campaigns, banner ads, guest posts, etc. you will bring in sales quicker than any rankings within the search engines.  Focus on these quick sales methods first, and work on your SEO overtime, because you'll actually make enough money to outsource your SEO work and focus solely on every other sales methods Why you need to stop worrying about your rankings and start working

You can build partnerships
When you're focusing on your SEO too much, you won't be building professional partnerships as much as you could be.  Business partnerships go a long way in terms of success, and you'd be amazed at how often a partner could come in and help you out with something such as a coding problem or they could just advertise your business on their own website Why you need to stop worrying about your rankings and start working  A partnership is like free advertising, if that's what you're planning on doing with them, and you could share clients between multiple partners and everyone would be more successful overtime.

If you're focusing too much on your SEO, you won't be building your partnerships, and that means you won't have any networking in place for when you need to ask for help or lean on someone in a time of need.  You help them out, they help you out, and everyone profits.

You can streamline your support system
Your support system is like a life line for your visitors to contact you through.  If they have a problem, they can go through your support system and get it resolved.  If they have a questions, they can open a ticket and get an answer to what they were pondering.  A great support system isn't just how they visitor can contact you, it's another form of your websites personality, and people will begin to see you as a person and not just a website.  If you are focusing too much on SEO, you will fall behind on tickets, which means people will begin to not trust you and they won't come back.

Building a good support system goes a long way, I actually tell people to go with NameCheap solely because of how great their support system is, so I know for sure a good support system keeps people coming back Why you need to stop worrying about your rankings and start working

Your business will be more successful if you focus on it
When you focus on your overall business, and not just your rankings, you will be much more successful overtime.  You will eventually get your rankings, but between now and then, you'll be able to make plenty of money to outsource your SEO needs Why you need to stop worrying about your rankings and start working

If you focus on your business, you will know how to optimize your pages for better conversions and you will also know what discounts are going to work and what don't.  Overall, if you focus on your business, not just your rankings, you will actually get more traffic in a shorter amount of time.  We all know that a lot of targeted traffic is great, even if it's not solely from the search engines Why you need to stop worrying about your rankings and start working

In conclusion
Your rankings will come, so don't worry about them, because if you do worry about them too much you could actually hurt your rankings all together.  If you hurt your linking profile, you can kiss your profits goodbye.  If you focus on your overall business, your rankings included, you will have a well oiled machine that will be bringing in clients from all over the place, and you can actually make enough to outsource all of the SEO work so you can focus on how your website is working Why you need to stop worrying about your rankings and start working

I agree that if you focus on your SEO rankings then you may be out of direction for your business. Maybe it is right to think that rankings will come in time and it’s not the main resources of the business and you can only do it if you put more focus on your business. As one successful businessman told me when I had that boutique, enjoy working on you business and don’t mind the profit for now.

I personally like the fact that rankings come over time because in the beginning I really screwed up! I mean I made some horrible mistakes. I'm not saying that anywhere close to being an expert now. I'm not even an intermediate home biz worker. But there were some things I did when first starting out, I'm glad nobody could find me!! LOL. Building a network can easily improve your rankings. You'd be surprised how many peoples businesses take off through and from recommendations or great reviews/word of mouth from the right people.

Good reviews are very instrumental in one's business upgrade and growth as long as you don't go and pay for reviews to be done for you. I have seen people do this and it ended up biting back at them in a very painful way. As long as you carry out your daily routine and running activities with courage and determination, a good review is just one click away from booming you up.

Buying reviews is really dishonest and a waste of time. I don't know why people do it. That money is far better spent on advertising in places where you can draw potential customers and earn REAL reviews.

Thanks for the beautiful article. Website rank comes from several techniques. Keyword based article and SEO keyword based article and right keyword selection after right keyword search will give you 3 benefits for the life time (by doing white hat SEO work)-
i) Your website will get traffic from search engines for the life time.
ii) your website position on search engines result page will be high.
iii) your website page rank will be high (by doing right keyword based do follow or hyperlink back link).

Thanks

Getting too worried about Rankin would only distract you from carrying out your. It makes you have lots of lapses because you lack focus. The truth is that as long as you are doing your work well, the ranking is almost definitely going to come because nothing would ever prevent it. But when you get carried away by the issue of getting your ranking, it would throw you off from having your work done well which would only result in your having low ranking when it comes.

I agree. Business owners should not focus on their ranking but rather to the quality of their service. What customer want's is their satisfaction from your service not by your rank. When in business service is the most important thing because what is the use of your ranking if your service is to poor which can push away your customers.

I think this is the trend now that site owners are more focused on the ranking and not on the service or the readers of their site. It is like the site is getting to be considered a commodity that can earn money and not anymore a website for the purpose. Bloggers are also advised to write for their readers and not for the search engines because the blog is not created for the ranking.

I agree with you that people should concentrate more on their site's content and marketing to make a sale, because that's what matters. SEO comes after that, more so if your site is new.
