Can learning only HTML and CSS help you get a job?

I remember studying IT for one year and half only and I'll admit that I did't learn anything on it, like about programming, html, css and java as well. I don't think that they do teach us the basic on programming during my studying at school. And the reason why I did learn the HTML and CSS is because of my friend have told me to try this online course which is about HTML and other programming platforms and it's free as well. So, I did take the chance and go for the course, and I did learn quick enough. But the question is, Is it enough for me to get a job even though I know the basic about HTML and CSS?? like can I get a job about creating a website for others with using HTML and CSS only??

HTML and CSS in itself can be too much basic. And it can be really hard to get a job with that. And in such context you can see that it'd be harder to get a job on itself. That skill is going to pay off in the sense. I think another skill that you should add is the javascript. And that would be good enough for the working. It'd be not that bad to get job in that case. Because javascript gets you nodejs, and angular based jobs.

I wouldn't focus too much on Dreamweaver unless you really like using it. i make a site help with assignment on word press and its too easy so after that I stopped using Dreamweaver. There are some tools which can be useful so if you learn those it may help out. But, a good text editor and firebug for Firefox is all you really need.

Well, CSS and HTML aren't really programming languages. Anything beyond PHP is a programing language and knowing/learning those will surely get you a job.

But in 2018, knowing only basic HTML and CSS isn't going to get you anywhere in my opinion. Sure you might get some internship job or even a junior position, but that's about it. Oh, and you will be required to learn much more, including a content managing system like Wordpress for example.

It also matters how well you know your way around CSS and HTML. How long does it take for you to write a webpage? If you are really good, you might find full-time jobs fairly easy. But if you are a beginner with little to no experience or portfolio, you basically know nothing and you will be treated as needing to learning everything from zero.

Thank you very much for the answer. I do not know anything about HTML, CSS or programing. However, I have enrolled in a programming class and want to enhance my skills (I have not started the class yet). I have been using wordpress since many years and the best thing about wordpress website is you can manage the website even if you do not know programing.

If you have knowledge in HTML and CSS, you can do the customization of your wordpress theme. You can modify your theme and redesign it the way you wanted. And with knowledge in php and javascript you can develop your own theme.

You are right but just exact a part because html and CSS are not enoght to create a Wordpress theme. To create a Wordpress theme, you need to know PHP or extra knowledge about JavaScript and Mysql to can create custom codes or jobs as wanted.

Yup PHP is required if you want to develop your own theme in WordPress and especially if your website is not just simply for blogging. You can create the feature that you need for your website if it is not available on WordPress theme and plugins that you are using.

HTML and CSS are used for front-end development. Those are essential knowledge for a web developer. You also need to learn scripting language such as javascript, php, python, etc., to have a bigger chance of landing a job. But you can try your skills if you really good at web designing to apply for a front-end web developer or work at online jobs for wordpress or joomla theme customizations. I have a friend that only knows HTML and CSS but is earning big money for doing such job. But I really recommend that you learn scripting language and database such as mysql so you can become a web programmer.

I don’t remember when but I had studied HTML before that’s why when I started to blog, I could somehow relate to the html codes. However, in the later part of that era, I was asked to learn Java because that is a more functional coding for the internet. To be honest, I don’t know Java and have no idea on how to go about it. So if it is only HTML that you know then probably you cannot go anywhere. My advice is for you to check on what language is used to make apps. That can give you lots of work to do.

My son taught himself coding and html. He has a very high paying job now. It is amazing, because he just worked at it until he could do it. He learned very little from taking classes. He is almost entirely self taught. If you have a skill that is in demand you can get a job.

Are you talking about free courses at online schools like Codecademy? I think that they only teach the basic. I wouldn't be too confident about those skills if I were to sell my services for a fee. Clients will expect you to create more complex websites than what you can make with basic knowledge of mark up languages. They will want their websites to be dynamic and interactive. You may need to learn skills like PHP programming, Javascript, Angular JS, etc. If you want to make use of these skills to customize Wordpress themes, you'll need to learn how Wordpress themes work. I do believe that you can learn these things on your own using free online resources.

Though I think knowing HTML and CSS is considered very basic, you might still be able to get some web design jobs if you can design a website for others. My husband just learned basic HTML in university, and he is interested in web design. He was helping his alumni to design a website, and then he learned some CSS while he was working on it. After that, some of his friends know he can do web design, they asked him to do it for them. So now he is treating this as a freelance job.

Since you might have learned some basic programming skills or web design techniques, you may be able to continue learning it online while you are looking for jobs. There are many sites where we can learn how to design website or code. It may not be easy, but I think it's doable.

You are right, HTML and CSS is basic but is still considered as a good job if you do it with great works. In this case, you can create html templates to sell on theme marketplaces. I saw more html themes there and they were sold with more sales.

Having one skill for you have to a job as a web developer is not bad, but most people say that companies look for talented programmer that is not only good at web development but as well as to the other fields. But If you master web development, do not hesitate to look for a job because there are a lot of available jobs out there for your master skill which is web development. You can go for a freelance job for it if you want.

I think no html are not widely use today. Mostly website today are made using PHP on what I know so sticking on html and css only are not a good Idea. If you are planning to be a developer then I suggest you to learn php and javascript.

Not really, because you need to learn other languages like PHP and Javascript to be in a better position. Otherwise, HTML and CSS are basic languages, and it is advisable to be a complete package.

Imagine landing a gig and all you can do is a quarter of the entire task. Go ahead and learn more for better chances and earnings. Always remember, No pain, no gain.

I would learn HTIM is one of the basic fundamentals for everyone who also wants to learn content writing. Now students also look at this website where they can check basic html for content writers online and this can provide the option to get good job in any programming field as well.
