The challenges of blogging broken down for a new blogger

When it comes to blogging, there are many different challenges ahead of you if you're just starting out.  Many people get into blogging because it's the new online journal that anyone can write on for themselves for for their readers.  Most of us on here will blog for profits and we know what we're doing when it comes to choosing a domain, picking the right hosting, choosing out CMS, writing the posts, staying consistent and getting our visitors to engage with our posts.  But what about the common blogger who isn't writing in order to make money?  The ones who are just posting to get their experiences on a blog because they don't want to write it on paper?

Blogging isn't as easy for the common person as you would think, there is actually a lot of confusing things to think about when it comes to setting up your first blog.  For this reason, I'm going to be covering the primary concerns of first time bloggers in this discussion The challenges of blogging broken down for a new blogger

Getting the right domain
If you're planning on blogging for yourself, your domain name might not be as important to you.  If you plan on writing content for the people, and want to make money off of them later on down the road, you may want to think about your domain name in the beginning so it helps you out more in the end.

Your domain should be short and sweet, so it's easy to remember and type into the address bar within your browser.  A domain with 57 words in it won't be easy to remember and hopefully everyone who visits your homepage is instantly bookmarking your page because I can guarantee they won't be typing out your domain name anytime soon lol.  By keeping your domain short and sweet, you're setting yourself up for easier branding down the road.  It's easier to brand a shorter domain name because people will remember it more often than a domain with 5+ words in it.

Try to get your domain to resemble your niche.  This will help you get noticed easier and it will also help when someone is trying to remember your website.

Finding the right hosting
The right hosting for a first time blog owner will likely be something along the lines of namecheap.com because they are pretty user friendly and affordable at the same time.  I actually refer people to namecheap for one other thing, their support!  I've had problems with my websites in the past, but I've never had a problem with namecheaps support team because they are amazing The challenges of blogging broken down for a new blogger

After you are comfortable with your blog and hosting, you can start looking into different hosting providers for your next website or blog.  Usually you'll be ok sticking to namecheap, but you might want to branch out and try some new things.  It's actually pretty difficult to pick the best hosting provider for you because most of them do the same thing, they just have different branding.

Using the right CMS
There are a few different CMS (content management systems) out there, but I always stick with WordPress because they power a ton of websites that you may visit.  Some of you are thinking "WordPress if for blogs, but you said it powers websites?" and that's normal to think until you learn about premium WordPress themes that are designed in a way to make your blog look and work like a fully functioning website.  WordPress is so advanced that it's not use for just blogging anymore, you can use it for eCommerce and other various websites as well, all while your visitors are unaware of the WordPress CMS powering everything The challenges of blogging broken down for a new blogger

You can go with a premium theme right off the bat, or you can start off with the more basic free themes that are provided to you after you upload WordPress to your cpanel.  The free themes don't look great, but they will let you get familiar with how everything works prior to investing more money into your blog or website The challenges of blogging broken down for a new blogger

Writing the content
When it comes to writing up your blog posts and content, it can get pretty over bearing if you're writing for profits.  If you're a casual blogger and don't want to get a ton of traffic and sales, it will be easier on you to post content since you won't be worrying about how many sales you'll make from each post after it ranks within the search engines.

If you're writing for profits, you'll want to be writing at least a few times a week and optimizing your content for the search engines.  You don't want to optimize too much and make the content unreadable, you want to optimize just enough so your readers love your content and the search engines can place you within their rankings accordingly (hopefully #1 lol).

If you don't have time to write up your own content, you can always outsource it to a credible writer (like myself The challenges of blogging broken down for a new blogger ).  If you do a basic search here on SEOclerks, you can find a ton of great writers who can get content written up for various niches.  Just be sure to do your due diligence so you know you're paying for high quality content that is sure to bring in the readers due to getting your rankings bumped up from the article being perfectly optimized The challenges of blogging broken down for a new blogger

Staying consistent with your posts
A problem with a lot of bloggers is that the content they are posting isn't consistent.  Your readers want to see new content coming in consistently, not once a day and then you decide to take a break for 3 months.  If the content isn't consistent, the search engines won't see you as an authority and rank you in the top of their results pages.  Not being ranked near the top of the results means you will be losing a ton of traffic, so you need to be writing.

You can outsource the work, like I mentioned before, or you can sit down and write up a bunch of posts in the beginning of the month and schedule them so they go out on certain days.  Scheduling is a great thing when it comes to blog posts, because you can do one day of work and have it scheduled out over the next week or month.  I actually write up 20-30 articles a week for one of my websites and schedule them over the entire month.  Doing this allows me to focus on other aspects of my website, like increasing my conversion rates or my ad campaigns The challenges of blogging broken down for a new blogger

Getting your visitors to engage
This is a must if you're blogging for profits!  If you're not getting your visitors to engage with your posts, you can kiss the majority of your profits goodbye.  This is because people are coming to your blog and leaving before they comment or engage with something else on your website.

Increase your engagement by asking questions that are enticing enough for someone to want to comment.  They will likely have to make an account on your website, but that's pretty normal so they won't get discouraged at this point.  You will need to streamline everything so the person can easily comment after making their account, otherwise they will get discouraged and leave The challenges of blogging broken down for a new blogger  You could also make it open to comment, but you'll get a lot of spam if you do because everyone and their grandmother can write a comment on each of your posts lol.

In Conclusion:
Above I talked about the most common challenges a blogger will face when they start their blogging journey.  Most of them will seem obvious to anyone who has ran, or is running, their own blog or blogs, but the newbie blogger will hit some walls that I hope they can overcome after reading this discussion.  Picking a domain name seems obvious, but it's not if you plan on branding it later.  Most people opt for WordPress because it's the leader in bloggin at the moment, and newbies might not know that.  Writing your own content can get overbearing so you might have to outsource the work, don't think this is you being defeated, because plenty of us outsource our own work eventhough we can easily do it ourselves lol The challenges of blogging broken down for a new blogger

Absolutely dead on for what a new blogger needs to do when they start, but it is just the tip of the iceberg. People starting out think it is so easy to just start righting, attracting visitors, and start racking in all that sweet, sweet ad space money. Nevertheless, this article does clearly identify the foundation needed to start.

I have been delaying my planned blog because I understand that getting readers is not an easy task. Maybe I can write my blog every day or every other day and I am confident that I can come up with quality blogs particularly with the information that I will share. But the big question is will there be visitors to read my blog? There is no use in writing good blogs when no one is reading it except the bots.

Excellent post here, and I wish I had this kind of advice years ago when I first got started blogging. Live and learn, though, I guess, right? Regular posts are, of course, essential. WordPress comes highly recommended, and I think it is the first choice for many bloggers nowadays. The more comments on a blog, from your audience, the better, and comments encourage new viewers and readers of your content to interact about it and to create a community of sorts revolving around your content and writing. One way or the other, I think that we are all writing for content, regardless of our creative or pleasure connections to our work, so we must be conscious, constantly, of our quality output and content.

I think writing the regular content and the traffic to the existing content is the question. And one has to get those things properly setup. That seems to be the way for many bloggers to properly set things up as well. I have seen some of the people properly adjusting the things and it could change the way things are going to be there as well. Another thing is that blogging takes time so we have to be thinking more in terms of the solution instead of the problems that we face. That approach also helps with establishing blogging income.

Overcast,
I agree with you here, and I think that what you are referring to, really, is that all of this is a process, and it takes time to hone any of our skills, including our online ones. I do know that my experience with visiting forums such as this and learning from more experienced bloggers, freelancers, and online entrepreneurs has really helped me a great deal, so I do advocate for people to network and pay attention and do their research as they go. There is ALWAYS room for improvement and growth.

Yes the process. The process is what makes blog. I think the overnight success of other bloggers make me think different. But there are more successful people who have taken like 10 years to reach those millions. And so you can see that it's not easy to break down the blogging career this easily. So in that context it;d be the process that we have to enjoy in due time.

Those are the essential things a new blogger needs to know, deal with and make them in place to be able to be successful.

To start blogger a domain name must be gotten and it should be short and match the content of the blog, hosting will be the next thing, then writing of the posts is the most important, this like the backbone of the blog.

The post must be interesting, engaging and realistic.

The last thing would getting the blog to engage the users and brining them back daily.

When I first started blogging it was very challenging for me. Had I come across this article earlier on then things would have been easier for me. At that time I didn't really had much blogging experience. I was just reading tutorials on the internet and not all of them were good tutorials. If you have an interesting content of high quality then you can consider yourself a winner. This coupled with some advertising will help drive traffic to your blog. If there is a part 2 to your article then you have to make sure that you post it within a reasonable time. Maybe people will be visiting your blog just to read this article and it will be a turn off if they can't find it.

These are challenges for beginners who are just getting started with a blog. Choosing a domain name for your niche and hosting it might be the simplest task to accomplish with time. Other tasks such as attracting visitors and getting sales are a bit more challenging. This is where most newbies turn back. They don't usually know how to go about it. They don't understand what it takes to build an online presence.

Wordpress is actually one of the best content management systems so I would definitely go with that. That also helps you because you can then concentrate on the other challenges of blogging because you don't have to worry about which software you want to build your build with. The right hosting can take a bit of time to find but after that, it is a pretty easy task so you shouldn't worry about that too much until you figure out the other aspects.

I think as usual you are right on target with your observations. Some people may not fully understand Wordpress, but it is something that a serious blogger begginner or otherwise should likely investigate. I know it offers the best tools for those who want to make a substantial income for blogging.

The major challenge I'm currently facing as a startup blogger is writing content. Content that is really valuable and could attract people to visit and keep them on coming back. My niche is about earning online but I have hesitations about the order of blogs that I'm going to publish. I'm kind of stuck because I'm still figuring out what must comes first and what comes next. I don't have problem in designing my blog site because I could develop it by my own from scratch or using CMS. But I preferred to use CMS, specifically wordpress, because it is easier and faster to start publishing blogs.

Pumping out regular content is the hardest thing for me to do. Because right now my life is in chaos and I don't know what I am doing from one day to the next. My wife and I are about to move to a new apartment and I think once we get settled in I will be able to put the work into my blog that I should have been doing from the start. But I do have full confidence that I will be able to turn things around for my blog.

After writing online for many years, I launched my blogs in 2015 December. I got a domain I wanted, I found a good host, I am not a programmer, therefore, I used Wordpress, I wrote and published articles. The only problem I have not is staying consistent wih my posts. I have not published new contents since a long time. Since the blog is not updated, I don't have a large number of visitors.

For me, the most important element of a blog is the content. A blog reader would be coming back to read the blog when the content is with substance and well-written. Of course, the content should always adhere to the topic and the theme of the blogsite. The length is also a factor because I get turned off when the blog is very long although a short blog is not good either. Including pictures and images will definitely enhance the blog.

Content is the king. Therefore, we should focus on creating high quality contents. However, having high quality contents is not enough, your contents must also be optimized for search engines by using focus keywords in the title, sub title and body. You also need to use meta description, meta tags and images. Marketing is another big factor contributing to the blog success.
