Why should I make an Instagram account ?

Hi, everyone. I have been using Facebook, Linkedin and Google+, and Twitter as social media platforms.
My general understanding towards Instagram is sharing of photos and videos.
On a personal level, do you think a person should start an Instagram account when I can also share photos and videos through Facebook.
Many of my family and friends have asked me to use Instagram but I for one do not get the X-Factor of Instagram.
Kindly share your thoughts on this.

I understand that social media may seem overrated, especially a website like Instagram. However, your family is on to something. Instagram is a good website because you are able to share digital media like photos and videos and you can share them live. That ability is pretty amazing. The millennials today love the filters and effects Instagram offers. It has taken some of Facebook's market share. I never cared for it, but if you want your business to be up to date with all the social media trends, Instagram is the way to go. If you don't make one, you'll be ignoring a chunk of potential markets that could influence your sales. People are loud on social media, especially Instagram. You need to learn how to utilize their loudness to your benefit.

I had created an account in Instagram for testing purposes and it didn’t suit my taste buds. The only advantage of Instagram over Facebook is the ability to post from the mobile in an instant hence the name Instagram. But aside from that, it is just a shadow of Facebook and I didn’t feel comfortable albeit it made me feel that there is something lacking. Making it worse is that you can only post in Instagram with the use of your mobile gadget and not the computer or laptop.

Instagram is among the biggest social networks of today, so I think companies should take advantage of this tool in their marketing strategies.

Advertising and engagement with the target audience is in my opinion the most important factors for using Instagram.

I don't have an Instagram account either, have never really seen the point. However, I do know of quite a few people who basically live on Instagram and do not use other forms of social media.

Depends on you really. Although it is a good gesture to ask for opinions from other people but at the end of the day, it all comes down to you. Ask yourself the following questions: Is it worth it for me? Can I make use of it? Can I benefit from it? and lots more questions that only you yourself can answer.

If you are into creative stuff like drawing, singing etc. And posting on instagram. Then you can see that instagram can be a good option. You just have to understand that instagram can surely increase your revenue on patreon. Most of the people these days are attaching the instagram with the patreon. So people can donate for the art.

You shouldn't if you have already what you need on other social medias, but if you have to advertise something like a website or different products, instagram can really help you if you know how to make it work. People will see an interesting picture of something and they will go on your page, where you can insert your website in the bio.

Like any other social media platform, Instagram can be a good resource for self promotion. You can gain followers which you might not know through Facebook, and through them you can expand your demographic as they like and share your content with their friends and followers as well. It's important to utilize all social media platforms as it can lead to potentially exponential growth.

Personally I've never been much of a social media person, including Instagram, however given the nature of my work I had to acclimate. It may be the same for you, but once you try it out, you'll see what everyone means.

In terms of promoting a website, I suppose the degree of benefits is going to vary depending on what exactly your website is about. If you are selling physical products or art for example, Instagram would be a great place to promote images and glamour shots of your products, or post short videos reviewing and advertising them.

While it might be a bit less useful for advertising your services, you can still use it as a platform to promote services you're providing and short video explanations on what you provide with your website.

All in all it is guaranteed to gain you at least some exposure, and that is invaluable in terms of online marketing.

Oh if you're aiming to open an Instagram account to share motivational/spiritual images with quotes, that is actually a fantastic idea. A friend of mine did a similar thing, as he started a YouTube channel which is based around motivating people to live happier lives. To promote it, he opened an Instagram profile and within an incredibly short span of time, he managed to gain over 7,600 followers which obviously isn't exactly an insignificant following.

Instagram isn't just like any other social media account and it's more than just videos and pictures if you really think about it. If you search deep enough and follow the right people you get to find videos that will make you laugh or make you cry and you also get to find photos you could relate to, it sounds like Facebook. But the thing is you just like photos and get followers which isn't a bad thing because you can have the chance to be an instamodel and get stuff for free and get paid to just feature a companies product in your account. The other good part is that you get to be InstaFamous, that means people will know you and you will be one of the most popular person in Instagram, it leaves an excellent mark on your social media reputation and that will end up making you be famous on every social media account.

I get what you mean. I'm not looking to be InstaFamous but Instagram would help me to promote my products. In the meantime, I am trying to get the hang of being part of the Instagram circle to understand how users think.

Facebook is quite good, but I prefer it just for pictures and instagram for videos.
Instagram is becoming the trending platform for celebrities and youth.
Your friends might want to form an insta community with you, for videos,pictures and chat or even promotions . Its just more modern on instagram.

Actually, some of my friends are already using Instagram too. But I don't like adding this because I only want one and that's FB. I am already contented of just sharing my photos I take through my phone. Besides, I hardly have time for going to social media anymore, because I prefer to be on online writing site like this where I enjoy interacting and at the same time, earning extra money.

Why not? Lol. Instagram is closely tied to Facebook anyway so why not give it a shot? If you're a web master and you need more visitors to your site, every social media network would be a great help. Instagram is gaining popularity fast. More and more of my friends on Facebook are also joining instagram (my phone notifications say so). It is also a great platform to be used in sharing your website to others. More traffic for you. More traffic means more ad revenue. We all want that right?????

Ok--I have finally been talked into opening an Instagram account after this forum. I have been grappling with this for a while, but it seems like a pretty good idea after reading all of these comments. I write about travel and local events a lot, so Instagram seems like a logical place to start posting all of my pics and to try to use them to further my web presence and networking.

It isn't going to hurt to create an account on Instagram. Ultimately, you might feel there are better venues to sport your site, but this may be a good one to begin with. I would recommend Instagram if you have alot of video and media to share with the world.

I guess that it is definitely viable. I just need to put in some time and effort to create more video and photo content. Quality over quantity is important so that it does not become spam.

It is more than just pictures and videos that you could discover on Instagram. It's a haven for people who love taking beautiful pictures of sceneries, food, and people. I am following my friends there and many of them share their everyday lives with just photos. I think photos there have much more words and stories behind them, despite having no description at all.

Well Instagram is a good place to combine your business with your personal friends and family. It's owned by Facebook, and has a few similarities. I enjoy the fact that it's for pictures and short videos, or memes. That's about all I post on Facebook anyway, I've been using Instagram for about 3 months now and overall it's a good social media platform to promote yourself, I recommend it, eventhough I'm not a fan of the phone app only platforms.

I think Instagram is the main tool for images, audios and videos sharing.A lot of persons are no longer on Facebook and we have this notion that facebook is mostly for chatting and interacting.

Having an instagram will be of good help to you if you a fashion -conscious person.you will get to see all the current and exceptional styles that you can replicate.

I have to disagree with your statement that people are no longer using Facebook. I guess Instagram is more convenient for sharing images, audios and videos. I have been trying it out and it works pretty well for me so far.

I believe there are people who uses instagram and don't use any of the social media you stated above, Same way there is others who uses Facebook but nothing else, So I think you should give it a try and see what you get from there, It's always a better add on what you had after all you don't have to rewrite stuffs or download on instagram since you have twitter it's easy to link them and things will automatically display on Instagram too, See you got nothing to loose for sure.

Yes, I believe I can target a different group of people just by using Instagram. This has been really beneficial for me so far to link the multiple social media sites.

if you want to reach young people, you should have an instagram account because that's where young people go. On the social media networks such as facebook and twitter you will find old people, however, young people are concentrated on instagram and pinterest.

That is pretty true. I guess it is dependent on what niche and target audience. However, you have piqued my interest by mentioning Pinterest. Why would Pinterest be considered popular with young audience? I am interested to know your thoughts on this. Perhaps there are more avenues to explore besides Instagram.

I recently joined Instagram mainly for advertising purposes. Advertising on different sites help you to reach new customers. I want to grow by business and attract different types of customers. To be honest I have not really been that successful on Instagram. However as I stated earlier on I recently joined and I think it will take some time for me to actually be successful on there.

There is no point of using each and every social media sites for personal networking. If you are using social media sites just to have fun using too many social media sites will overwhelm you. However, if you are an internet marketer, business owner (offline/online), seller, etc. then it is very beneficial to have presence on every social media sites. You never know where your customers and clients are based. Therefore, you should not only use facebook and twitter, but also instagram, pinterest and all those ever evolving social media sites.

I have no Instagram because I am content with Facebook. However, upon encountering some topics about the advantages of having an Instagram account, I am now contemplating on creating one. What if I become an influencer in Instagram? That may be far-fetched but it can have a reality because in the internet, anything is possible to happen. So maybe I will have to compute for the time that I can give to Instagram every day before I create and account and make the first post of my selfie.

Social media are one of the most important tools in business nowadays. I think that Instagram is one of the most used platform at this time aside from Facebook. I personally use Instagram more because it focuses more on the pictures and videos an user posts. People nowadays are fascinated with Instagram, specially millennials. Instagram offers great filters for photos and videos. It can now be used for live videos and can be a source of communication. I personally think that Instagram is better than Facebook because I think there's a lot going on in Facebook, usually fake news and scams are easily spread on Facebook rather than Instagram. That is just my own opinion. I use Instragram everyday and I think that it's less toxic than the other social media platforms available.
