Blogging as a revenue source

Hi everyone, I'm going straight to the point. I want to make some profit from blogging. I have an idea and I want it to really work since I have about 3 months to implement it.
Firstly I would like to know if someone has a personal experience at blogging, difficulties, pros and cons, the amount of investment I should make, and also the best way to do it.

Probably I won't get a perfect recipe, but at least I'm willing to learn more about this online business.

I once had a blog associated with Google Adsense, does it still work?

Any help will be very welcomed, thank you!

You need to figure which niche you want specify in. What your blog will be about this should something that interest you so as to make the job more easier. And also at this stage you should worry less about the gains. Concern yourself most with giving good and valuable contents so as to build a good visitors base. And yes the essence of the blog is to make money, so you can try good adsense and some other affiliate marketing, like Amazon and all.

I have several friends who can be considered good bloggers because they earn money from their blogs. One of them is a professional blogger which means that is her livelihood. But they work on it. First is the contents, they write good articles that adheres to the theme of their blogsite, not so long but not so short. And with photos too so it is entertaining to read. Then they promote their blog regularly in social media. Having active friends in social media greatly helps especially if they will react to your blogs favorably with comments. The objective is not only to acquire new readers but also to retain the existing readers.

Thank you! I really liked the graph, particularly the services section. Does anyone think translating services might be an option or something like tutoring? I'm Portuguese native and English fluent speaker, so I was willing to provide this type of services in order to monetize some extra money Blogging as a revenue source

I have been writing on Hubpages for two months now.I have not yet earned anything but I believe it will take some time for me to start
generating income.I think one can earn money from blogging if they put
in the requisite time and effort. It takes anywhere from one year to
three years to start making money. You need to create great content. This
includes the use of graphics, images, text and videos in your blogs. You
also need to establish an audience. Then you need to monetize the blog
using advertisements(ads) ,product promotion, affiliate marketing etc.

I have seen people making money from the affiliate links and the ads. But most of them don't earn much. Considering the adblock usage is all time high. And I think in order for blogging to make you some serious money you have to get lot of conversion. And then save and reinvest that sort of money. You may then able to get the revenue source in much better position.

Agree with this. People nowadays know how to use adblocks. And it really lessens the earnings specially to those who are just starting out just like me. One of the best way I am thinking that would somehow do is posting your blogs on social media groups that are not aware of the ads or just neutral people, specially those who don't know anything about ads or adblock extensions.

You will never find a perfect recipe for this, but you may get advice that will help you in your issue. The only way to get a lot of money from your blog is to add Adsense account, after that, you must advertise your blog in ad campaigns, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Digg, etc. Bringing traffic on your blog will help you in raising your balance money.
Don't have a big expectation, earning money from your blog may take a while!

This is the hard truth, isn't it? I guess I need to focus on a particular way to bring traffic, plus creative content, otherwise I better not even start the blog.

I like your advice here--I am new to this, and I do not want to get discouraged, so I am going to try to be patient in growing this as a side business as i work from home...I am having fun, however, responding to the various forums.

I have a blog that is a recipe blog with Adsense and Amazon ads. Until now after 8 years of blogging, I had earn $42 from AdSense and 20 cents from Amazon.

I have found that recipe blogs instead of text content do better as a video content. And there are chances of those people getting better features on TV too. For example people on Sorted youtube channels are now having TV show appearance. So it's possible that they may earn more revenue out of this. So earning has more chances of having better revenue source.

You can generate revenue from blogging but it will take some time before you will be able to earn a stable revenue. Google AdSense still work but there are web applications that blocks ads in your blogs which makes your revenue to decrease in amount because there are people just don't want annoying ads while they are reading your blogs.

I did blogging and made a few bucks off of it for a little bit, the hardest thing is getting an audience to be interested in your blog. You can sign up with Google Adsense to get revenue off ads.

AdSense is really the only option since they pay the highest and even then Google still keeps a lot of the money you generate. It's a very hard way to earn a living.

Not at all. In fact there are many other sources through which you can earn. Say amazon CPM and amazon affilaite links. I have found out that shareasale and CJ also have some good options. You can earn from many sources other than adsense. It is just that adsense pays the best. So you have to understand what else you can do with instead of it. Don't think adsense is everything.

I use Adsense combined with daily sharing on social media websites and it seems to work well for me.
Try finding a good niche and long tail keywords and put in a lot of hard work and it will pull off for you.

If your niche market is a well target audience of people looking for a solution and you can provide it to them. You drive traffic to your site and monetize it, either with Google adsense or any other monetization model that suits your audience. Blogging can be a great source of revenue for you .

I think it may take you a bit longer than two months to see a substantial income from your blog. It just takes time to develop a readership and to make sure that you have people who will click on your advertising. You may want to check with others who have blogs similar to yours and see what they have to say.

Yes, I'm a bit disappointed with the current value I have of my blog, but I think I will get there someday. Perseverance is a gift after all.

If you put your mind and heart to it and offer something unique and really useful, you're on your way to success, although it may not be as fast as a bullet train. No one succeeds overnight so you have to be patient and work consistently on your blog. Before putting up my own blog, I took time to review other people's blog to try to see what makes them successful and interesting. I think that niche blogs have better chances of making it against social media.

I have been earning through blogging since a long time. In the past I used to publish on writing sites and earn revenue from my articles. I started with helium, then I joined squidoo and hubpages. I still have articles on hubpages which are earning me since 5 years.
Now, I have my own blogs, I am not earning much, but I hope in the days to come my earnings through my blogs will improve.

I know everyone wants to throw up a website and be instant millionaires but that's not the way the internet works. The sad truth is 99.98% of the websites fail to make any money on the internet because the market is way over saturated. And the websites that do make money usually make no more than pennies a day. And the truth is that the websites that are making a lot of money have been on the internet for a long time and have a huge following. And the odd of the average blogger reaching that kind of revenue is less than .01%. Your best bet is to find a regular job and do blogging as a hobby and if you find success then great. But in the meantime you will not starve.

I agree with what you said about saturation. But no matter what the saturation is, I still think that you can earn by marketing your blog properly and relentlessly. Of course, instant millionaires happen with much luck but for ordinary circumstances, you have to persevere in building up your market base or readership. It's not an easy task but with the help of social media, it is doable.
