Who Are You? - Do You Think It's Possible For Me To Change My Username?

Who Are You?! - Who Am I?!

Who Are You? - Do You Think It

Who Am I? - No, I don't refer to the Jackie Chan movie from 1995.

What I'm talking about is the fact that I am hitmeasap. I've been a member on SEOClerks since Jun 18, 2012, and I've always been "hitmeasap" during my freelancing career.

With that being said, I am hitmeasap, but that's more than just my username or nickname. - It's my brand. It's my business.

So, the fact that I've been thinking of changing username, might not come as a surprise for some, meanwhile it's a surprise for myself in some ways. - And I have a hard time thinking I'd be able to do it "flawlessly" so to speak. I think it will be confusing for literally hundreds of people. Both friends and clients, but also to "random people" on SEOClerks for instance.. And obviously for myself too. Especially once the change have been made.

What do you think? - Is it possible to just change your name like that, or would it affect other things as well, which I haven't even covered above?

Would you do it and have you thought about doing it?

Best Regards,
hitmeasap

I changed my username here quite recently Andre when I started getting more involved with the community discussion.

My reasoning was that I like to build my brand and I am a blogger, so using a username that was not my name wasn't doing me any favors. I asked Support to change it for me and they did.

I am not sure about your reasoning for wanting to change your username but I have a feeling it would do you some good. I get the sense that you are about to do some sort of metamorphosis (think caterpillar to butterfly) and if that is the case, a new username would be awesome.

Thank you Lynne. Well, I haven't decided yet, but I do have some thoughts about changing username. The thing is, that it feels a bit awkward when I'm thinking about it. I mean, that's literally like changing my real name. It's mine. It's who I am. - It can't be that easy to just change your name which you've been using for the last 4-5 years.

However, I've been thinking about using something like IMStrand instead (I've used it on a few occasions already). Mostly due to the fact that my name is André Strand, so the Strand thing will be based on that. The IM part however, would be due to me being a freelancer. More importantly, an internet marketer. So basically "Internet Marketer Strand" or "Internet Marketing Strand". And Strand doesn't have to point to my last name either actually. It could literally be any of the English words for it. - That way, I'd also be able to use IMStrand.com for my blog for instance. (And I owned that domain previously too, but never really did anything with it).

Honestly Andre I like it. I think it would be good for you to do a change. I can't tell you why because everything I've learned about building your brand and all that says no you should stay where you are, but my gut tells me the time is right for you to make a change. A new year, a new start, a new direction..... and a new username.

Call me crazy but it feels good. And I like IMStrand.
