Pen Names [vs] Real Names. Which you should use, and why.

A lot of people use pen names, but don't really talk about why. Now I'm here to go over why you should use a pen name or if you should use your real name, and why.

Using A Pen Name:
A pen name is something you make up that identifies you in some way so you can make a presence online under that name. My name isn't actually "Razzy" but it's my main pen name that I've used for years. I actually don't remember how I came up with the name but I think it has to do with either a video game or anime lol Pen Names [vs] Real Names. Which you should use, and why. Now I'm sure there are a few "Razzy's" out there on the web, but most of them are probably me. I even have a similar pen name to Razzy because someone already took my name and tried to say they were me lol Pen Names [vs] Real Names. Which you should use, and why.

A pen name gives you a digital disguise. You can be your natural self or you can be someone you want to be, it's up to you. So many people are different when they use their pen names because it can't really be tracked back to them if they mess something up for a client or on a forum. If you do something you shouldn't have, or start getting the dreaded "Scammer" tag linked to your pen name it might be time to consider it burned and make a new one. I would suggest people who are new to online marketing to use a pen name just in case they mess something up. Using a pen name helps keep your actual name out of the search engines, stay off the radar from the law/government, make sure your Ex can't stalk you, and not be able to be found by potential employers Pen Names [vs] Real Names. Which you should use, and why.

Using Your Real Name:
Using your real name is much more rare online than using a pen name. This is because not many people want to be seen as who they actually are, so they don't use their real name. Now when you do decide to use your real name you'll need to be more careful when you post and what you're posting about. Everything can link back to you and it could either be really good or really bad.

Posting as your real name can increase your authority within a niche and make you look like the professional to go to when someone needs something. Using your real name can help brand who you are because people can be like "Oh yeah, that guy (insert name) is pretty awesome at what he does". This will encourage shares because people are more likely to share an actual name and not a pen name. No one wants to tell their boss that SEOkilla69 did a great job on a backlink campaign and the company should use them lol. The boss will want to hear that "John Doe" did the job Pen Names [vs] Real Names. Which you should use, and why.

Use your real name if you already know what you're doing and want to be branded as a professional. I do this all the time, but I don't stray from all my pen name accounts because I've been using them for so long Pen Names [vs] Real Names. Which you should use, and why.

I feel good when people use their personal name online because you get a personal touch, and as others mentioned it sort of gives authority. I have always used my nickname and it sort of got ingrained in me. It's the main reason why I got stuck with EliteWriter, but I cannot say I am not pleased with it and my buyers have got used to it by now, so I am not going to change it as I do not want to confuse them either.

This is a brilliant topic Razzy and one that I had to think quite seriously about when I decided to start blogging, especially since one of my blogs is very sensitive - recovery from drug addiction, since I am an addict and an alcoholic.

I chose to use my real name for a few reasons. Firstly I have a few blogs and I want to build authority for myself. The second reason is that while I was very tempted to use a pen name for my addiction blog for obvious reasons I also want to use my real name so that the stigma and shame of addiction can be overcome. By standing up and letting the world know the truth it takes some of that stigma away.

I am actually now in close contact with a few addiction bloggers that I have become friends with that blog with pen names. Each to his own and like you say I think there are pros and cons to each... what suits one person may no suit another.

I used a lot of nicknames and pen names along the years, A LOT! But my most used one was Rancid probably, had that one all over the place because it was the name of my favorite punk-rock band.

Anyways, a few years ago I began realizing that I need an online persona that defines my as a real person, something professional that I can link to a potential client or employer. This is why I've adopted my real name as my username in pretty much every account I currently have. I'm also not afraid of giving my real name anymore, used to be very paranoid about this in the past, no anymore, you can find my full name everywhere online and I'm not ashamed of it.

Oh I've found your real name Cristian Pen Names [vs] Real Names. Which you should use, and why. I got you on Facebook LOL.

My personal feeling is that in a day and age where so many people online are scamming others and they are able to fly under the radar by using any name they like it is a great idea to be open and use your own name. I believe this creates trust and authority. If I went by a pen name then I don't believe I would have made it so far now.

If you are in a business, especially if your goal is to hit it big, there’s no good reason not to use your real name unless you are celebrity using an alias. Using your real name adds to your credibility because some people don’t trust obvious aliases. By the way, my profile name is coined from my first name and surname.

I'm using my real name.I prefer using my real name because I want to know by that.I like the meaning of my name and I believe it comes with favor and royalty. Why would I dump a name with this good meaning to some other name that might not make much sense? So I love my real name.

I began using my real name from the beginning. I wanted my name to appear all over the internet. I was already writing for newspapers, therefore, I thought using my real name will build a brand. I have always used my real name. However, recently I have decided to use a pen name. I am from Nepal and my name does not sound familiar to my clients in the US and the UK, therefore, I am thinking to use a Christain name.
