Identity Verification - a new security feature?

So I just came across a new feature in the security settings - identity verification

I have happily submitted my national identity document. I am just wondering who else is doing this?

Hi Lynne thanks for convey a nice information regarding identity verification on SEOclerks like another security concern. SEOclerks becoming more amazing site each and every day and at the same time they are very concern about security for all users. And specially this featured will stand very strongly against fraud. I am sure many of fraud buyer and seller will not going to verify for this feautre. And I would suggest to SEOclerks please make it mandatory for all buyers and sellers, who specially spend a certain of time on SEOclerks.

I also request to verification my identity hope within 72 hours my identity will verify and hope this will show on my profile beside phone and address verification.

Eventually thanks to SEOclerk to take such a great step against fraud.

Fair play for opening this on the Community Discussions Lynne. As no actual official announcement was made about it yet. So it's good to bring it to peoples attention as it's a great way to increase the security of your account. There are already some good security features in place, but this will just add another layer of security on top of those. That's the great thing about SEOClerks (well one of the great things), that they are always working on new ways to increase the security and strength of our accounts on here.

I still haven't got round to it myself yet. I wanted to know actually, how did you do it? Like did you have a digital copy of your ID or something? Can I just take an HD photo of my drivers license or something and then upload that? Will that be accepted?

I'll probably do this soon just to make my account that little bit more secure. And I recommend everyone to do it if they value their SEOClerks account! Also, this will work on all sites as well, so if you do it here, you'll also be done on ListingDock etc etc too I believe. Identity Verification - a new security feature?

As for making it mandatory for everyone, I don't believe that should be. Simply because there are some very honest people out there, on here, that are great buyers/sellers but they just don't have any photo ID of any kind. So making it mandatory for them will mean they can't do that and that wouldn't be fair on them, or anyone that buys their services, or the people they buy from if they could not use the site unless they had verified their photo ID. I think it's best to keep this one as an optional thing. Let people optionally decide to do it or not. There are already ample security features in place such as mobile and address verification, secondary password and security question and device alerts. So it's already locked down like Fort Knox if you do those things alone. Plus not everyone wants to show their real face, that doesn't mean they are dishonest. That's just the way that people are!

But it's a really good security feature and step to take, because if some reason those other security steps were by passed, they would need to verify the photo ID that SEOClerks has against the one that would needed to be upload. No match would mean no access.

Great security feature. Better to have and not need than it is to need and not have if you know what I mean.

Mike.

Hi Mike. I always have a pdf of my identity document saved on my laptop. You never know when you need to send it to someone right? So I had it right here and I just clicked on upload document. It took me just a few seconds.

I am sure a photo will do just fine too!

I did that today and already I have been ID verified Identity Verification - a new security feature? So it was really fast and easy with no problems.

I don't think it should be mandatory either, but I do think it should be added to our profiles just like it shows if we are phone and address verified. It will just make the trust factor all the better!

Identity Verification - a new security feature?
Identity Verification - Check!

Thank you Lynne, I wasn't aware of this security option before your topic.
This is a superb feature for extra security. It feels like my SEOClerks account is locked down as hard as Fort Knox.

Identity Verification - a new security feature?

Awesome updates as always. Thank you SEOClerks, thank you Ionicware and thank you Lynne for reminding us!

LOL Andre Identity Verification - a new security feature? Me too, nice to know that there are all these awesome security features being added all the time. I love the fact that SeoClerks is constantly working to bring new and exciting updates.

I'll do it myself soon! Identity Verification - a new security feature? I'm happy to if it offers that extra layer of security to my highly regarded SEOClerks account. And that goes for all the other sites in the amazing Ionicware family of marketplace sites as well. Which is why I recommend all sellers and buyers here do the same thing as well. And it just goes to show how they are always being innovative and looking for ways to increase our account security and letting us lock down our site like it's locked inside Fort Knox and guarded by 50 lethal ninjas! Identity Verification - a new security feature?

I wonder what other types of security features they release next. I'm thinking possibly fingerprint scan? Or retina eye scan? Voice scan? Or even DNA scan? Those are pretty much things that are all unique to everyone so unless they've got your finger, your eyeball, a recording of your voice and a sample of your DNA your account is safe and protected. Identity Verification - a new security feature? Some places actually already do this, mostly high security government and army buildings but even some banks require some of this stuff now to login to their bank and many organizations are following suit in an attempt to increase peoples account security and minimize and prevent fraud from taking place.

Can you imagine logging into SEOClerks or any other Ionicware site by getting your eye ball scanned and speaking your name into your webcam and mic? Like, hello user, please look into the camera and speak your name and access code.

You know it's the future! Identity Verification - a new security feature?

I think that its awesome that Seoclerks is adding this extra layer of security to our profiles. I have already verified my address and my ID but it shows i have not. I have to look into this and see what is going on maybe upload it again. So many people try to hide their identity to scam people or avoid taxes that this is almost a necessity. Today the online world is getting crazy with people trying to hide who they really are. This extra step to verify the users here on Seoclerks will give the buyers peace of mind knowing that we are verified. Thank you for sharing this because i didn't realize that they added all of these features. I was only aware of the address verification, but i like everything else they added.

I was not aware of this. It is a cool addition, and certainly done with the intention of offering more security to sellers, and also add to the trust buyers can feel when dealing with them. Thank you for sharing this Lynne.

Yeah I've verified my ID too before a few days. After phone and address verification SEOClerks it's offering another security feature, which not only will improve our account security but it will also increase the reliability for both parts sellers and buyers. Simply it's an awesome feature, and it's something that all users should do.

I had all the verifications until now, including the address one, but I think as a seller, I don't need this one just yet. The only other website I submitted my ID too was PayPal, I'm not saying I don't trust SEOclerks with my ID but I'm not doing it just yet since there are no direct feature you gain from doing this.

As far as I understand all this is for high fraud risk buyers who still want to buy services here on SEOclerks.

Not true! Let's say for some reason, some cyber crim was able to bypass all your other security steps like the mobile and address verification, secondary password and security question. If you hadn't had done the identify verification step, they would be able to access your account and withdraw your funds. Although not right away as you have to wait 24 hours after changing your PayPal email and you'd get an email alert about that. But let's say they also managed to get access to your email account as well. They could delete that email as soon as it arrives and you wouldn't be none the wiser until you see all your funds have been withdrawn. However, with identity verification, they would have to upload the same ID that you originally did. And to get that they'd have to break into your house and know which ID you did upload, then get that and upload it. I can't see that happening but still, it's a good feature to have to add an extra layer of security to your account.

This is for everyone! Buyers and sellers. Especially sellers who make a lot of money here and want to keep their account as safe and secure as possible. One thing that it doesn't do is show up on your profile the same as if you're mobile and address verified does. But that's not a bad thing. But perhaps that will come later.

LOL ok well I sent in my ID anyway... not sure if it is needed but I did it.

I thought it was just another way to build your trustworthiness here. I am a buyer but I am not into fraud so I think I needn't have bothered!

I think it would be cool to see this details on user profiles like this:

Identity Verification - a new security feature?

We already have Phone Verified and Address Verified. Wouldn't it be a good thing to see "Identity Verified" too? - I mean, not that it would really matter, but I see it like this: The more verified you are, the more likely it is that people trust you. It's just like with positive feedback, response time, delivery time and recommendations too. All of these things exists to help both sellers and buyers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Maybe that's a bit too much in my opinion. Addresses verified seems very trustworthy in my book, I just didn't seen any other websites having ID verification displayed to other users.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I do agree with you Cristian, about this being "a bit too much", but I still believe it could work just fine. It wouldn't be much different from the verification statements we already have.

Good idea I am address verified which I think is the most important of all of these. However, if you start adding to many features to things, it just adds more things that can go wrong. If anyone for instance ever hacked seo clerks, I don't think I would want my private id info on the site lol just saying. Also, it could be more of a target for hackers if they think they can get that info from a site just my thoughts of course.

It’s about time that this site should be strict with the members in order to weed out the undesirable buyers and sellers. Some users have the guts to fool people simply because they do not show their real identity. Look at Paypal which requires a credit card so that when the user is a fraudster then his credit card will bear the brunt. This identity verification is a good way to assure us of integrity.
