Is it safe to take part in medical trials as a human test subject?

Sure! Well, a lot safer than it used to be. People have been tested on for thousands of years. Whether they want to or not! Both in individual cases and on a global scale as well. In medieval times and back a few hundred years and some decades back, there are stories by people where tests have gone horribly wrong for them or they've been subjected to horrible and brutal and demoralizing trials, specially in past history in medieval times and that. It's a lot safer today though and that doesn't really happen anymore. But still, where do you draw the line and what happens when they cross it? How far are you willing to go and is making the money worth more than your health, dignity and your body's integrity?

Have you ever been a human lab rat and taking part in any clinical trials?

Ok, these I would do! Kinda funny right? I'm not willing to test food my I'm willing to have tests done to my body? I really have to reflect on myself a little.

Thing is, these things aren't available in my country so can really profit from them. Just wondering, anyone ever died from doing this kind of tests? Because I'm pretty sure nobody is going to pay you 8000 bucks if the risk of "DEATH" wasn't somewhere in the contract.

Cristian there is a World top made where it says that our place is on the second place where these tests are done.
According to Vanity Fair 's top this is how it looks:
1.Rusia - 1.513 tests
2.Romania - 876 tests
3.Thailanda - 786 tests
4.Turkey - 716 tests
5.Peru - 494 tests
6.Iran - 292 tests
7.Uganda - 132 tests
8.Bangladesh - 76 tests
9.Malawi - 61 tests
10.Kazahstan - 15 tests
However I'm not sure how they measured and for what year is this top made but still. As far as i know, our legislation allows human trials as long as they are advertised only through flyers and only on hospitals, clinics and personal cabinets. Drug companies are not allowed to use media for advertising.

To answer your question Mike, i will never consider the trials as a viable sollution to make money. At least, while I'm still healty and everything is working properly.

Oh my gosh. I hate needles and I don't like taking medication... and I don't like people prodding and poking at me so I will give this one a skip. In addition to that, like I said in the previous discussion thread about being a beer taster, I am a recovering alcoholic and addict.

This means the medicine I can take is kinda limited to Paracetemol. When I am ill I have to be very careful. There are so many addictive substances that are in mediciations that I just avoid taking them. Even after giving birth via c-section with both my kids I got sent home with Paracetemol while other new moms get the good stuff.

I think this type of work would not only be very unappealing for me, but also risky in a very big way.

These whacky ways to make money can really work in two ways in the sense that most people willing be afraid of joining such ventures to make money, while those that will join will end up charging their clients higher. That way, they will make enough money.

No, I can't do that! There are some risks to being a test subject and I wouldn't dare take it as I only have one life to live. I'd like to see more of your series and I don't want to spoil them but when it comes to making a livelihood out of my body, I guess it is safer to sell one's teeth or blood than be injected with experimental drugs in a test lab. I'm sure that some will even claim that they are being altruistic when participating in testing programs like this, but it hardly justifies the risk in my opinion. Next idea please!

There is a current issue about the vaccine that the government’s health department had administered to 800,000 children last year. The vaccine is against dengue and there is a strong suspicion that some children with vaccination have died due to extreme dengue attack. It’s like the vaccine had backfired. With that, I don’t think it is safe to be a human test subject particularly for vaccines or any other medical research. And even if they pay me much, I probably wouldn’t do it.
