What exactly is the meaning of page rank ZERO (0)?

What exactly does it mean when a website is rated Page Rank Zero (0), does it mean that the website has been penalized or is it an improvement in page rank due to increased search engine rankings and traffic visitors? when i did some research on it, i got conflicting answers about it.
So i want to hear from the house here?,.

Asking about PageRank today is like asking about black and white TV's. They are obsolete and nobody uses them anymore and nobody broadcasts in black and white anymore either. TBH I'm really confused as to why you're asking this question. On your profile it says "I am an internet marketer who specializes in in the delivery of Search Engine Optimization [SEO] Services for the promotion of websites, blogs, affiliates, links etc." IMHO, anyone that "specializes" in SEO should know all about PageRank, how it works and when it was officially disabled for public viewing a long long time ago. I would imagine that you would know this already because an SEO's job is to keep his/her ears to the ground and stay up to date with the latest happenings in the world of SEO and the SEO industry on a whole.

Google stopped showing the PageRank score of websites in 2013. They haven't disabled PageRank completely. They still use it for internal ranking purposes. But they have disabled showing it to the public. The last Toolbar PageRank Update was in December 2013 and Google declared thereafter: “PageRank is something that we haven’t updated for over a year now, and we’re probably not going to be updating it again gong forward, at least the Toolbar version.

As an SEO, you should completely forget about PageRank as though it never existed in the first place.

i know long time that the pagerank update has stopped,.if you go through my questions i have posted in this forum, you notice that i ask a question some time agao that ''what other methods can be used to rank a website since page rank update has been stopped for now''. The issue just crossed my mind so that is why i decided to post it here in this forum. And besides, page rank may be re-introduced back,...who know!!!!!!!

I understand. I don't think PR will be reintroduced. It was removed for a reason and to reintroduce would defeat the reason they hid in the first place. But that's what I'm saying in that people shouldn't base their SEO on PR but rather just look at the quality and relevance of the SEO and link building instead.

It doesn't matter if your website has Page Rank 0. It's most probably not penalized. Is it still indexed in Google? Do you still get organic traffic? Then it's not penalized.
Google Page Rank is dead and it will NEVER be re-introduced. At least not in the format it once had. Maybe Google will introduce at some point some sort of authority score (very unlikely) and lets say maybe it will be called Page Rank, but the algorithm will be totally different and they won't bring back years old technologies.

I guess you asking about Google page rank (PR)? This ranking system doesn't exist any more so i am not sure why bother discussing this, or does it matter any more What exactly is the meaning of page rank ZERO (0)?

But even when it existed it didn't mean that website is penalized! PR0 was starting point of page ranking and every website / blog started from PR0. Also it had nothing to do with your webtraffic. Traffic was very little part of ranking back then

Thank you very much for your response, i know very well that Google has stopped the updating of page rank. its just because i did some research on page rank when i first created my new website and noticed that after carrying out some promotional methods, my website was ranking Page rank zero, so i did some research to know what it means and noticed that a website reads page rank 0 when it get penalized while some say it doesn't necessarily mean it is penalized. i kept this in mind for a long time until i remembered and decided to post it here to hear from the secoclerks house.

The meaning of page rank zero is the rank given by the Google based on your website's quality and traffic. It is the priority which is from 0 to 10, If your website's page rank is zero then it doesn't mean that your website got penalized but it means your ranking is on very low level so you need to increase the page rank for the better performance.

No that's not correct! All PageRank checks will say PR0 regardless to what the PR actually is. Do a PR check on YouTube.com or Facebook.com and it will say PR0. Does that mean that YouTube and Facebook needs to increase it's PageRank score somehow? No it doesn't, it just means that the PR is not showing and is showing 0 across the board for every website on the Internet regardless of what its PR actually is. Yes it doesn't necessarily mean his site has been penalized, but you're talking as though PageRank is still visible to us and saying if they have a PR0 then it means to they need to do more SEO on the site. But that's not necessarily the case and is bad advice to give. These days it's all about the DA, PA, TF and CF as a way to tell how well a domain is ranking in the SERPs. PR means nothing anymore.

Also PR has nothing, zilch, nada, zip, zero to do with your traffic or how much traffic your website is getting! I could get a billion organic UV's a day and it wouldn't matter one single tiny bit or many any difference to my PR whatsoever!

PR is a measure of links not a measure of traffic.

But his information is incorrect. He's giving out misinformation. He's talking as though in present tense as though PR is still viewable and having a PR0 means you need to "increase the page rank for the better performance". But it wont matter if you go and build 100 PR9 links to your site. Your PR score will still say PR0. And traffic has nothing to do with PR at all. It doesn't matter how much traffic your site is getting. PR is a measure of links NOT a measure of traffic!

Page rank just doesn't exist anymore. So it means nothing at all. A very successful and high ranking website wwill be PR0 and so will a new website.

I started working online in 2011 and even then page rank was on it's way out but I could often see what a website's page rank was.I was so disappointed because I first learned all about what page rank was and I started trying to get mine up and then soon after that I found out that page rank was on its way out! I hated seeing my PR0 and seeing other websites with high page ranks because it made me annoyed and inadequate. Now everyone shows as PR0 which is great in my eyes.

I don't want to be showing a piddly PR0 when other websites have a page rank LOL. Call me silly but it really grated me!
