Are Big Facebook Pages, really better?

Some people are spending lots of money to make super big Facebook pages, more fans, more posts. But I don't see any end gain in doing that, do you? What's to be gained by all this? Are big Facebook pages ever profitable? Because, Facebook doesn't like it when you push traffic off their site.

Personally I would have to be on the same boat on this one o do not think that any thing productive comes from investing in to making a big face book page other then how your numbers look on it, it sounds like people push to hard and end up paying for views likes etc and the bottom line with this is that regardless of what it is if it has to do with the Internet it is not excepted endless it's real (likes views etc) paying for numbers is like drinking water for a meal it does not fill the gap it just sounds like a waste of time and money

Hi sanfora thanks for your question. Yes I think big facebook page more better than little facebook page. If you define big facebook page means more fan more activity, so, what is negative parts? Of course you agree with me more fan means more activist will convert to your post. If I think as purpose of business for any fan page, I should try to get more fans. Because, if more fan will active with my page and if I going to promote anything for my business, I should get more discussion rather than small fan page. Is not it? You never expect huge discussion from small fan pages, where only 5K fan, On the other hand what about 100K fan for big page?

If people getting REAL PEOPLE as fans on these fan pages, then it can be big difference. Let's say, if there is no difference then why would be TV so popular to advertise anything, specially for big amounts of money? Because people watching and TV pumping your mind with ads, what to do, what to buy etc... So creating big audience on Facebook fan pages or any other social media network profile is important for businesses, celebrities etc... so they can use FREE WAY to advertise, to connect to people, to get more popularity and all other things which are important to them

I built up my mommy blog Facebook page to over 40 000 fans in about 4 years through Facebook advertising. Yes it cost a bit of money but not a huge amount each month. I enjoy my Facebook page and I have to be honest although I have a lot of fans I am not sure I know exactly how to utilize it to the best of my ability.

That said I don't really put much money into it anymore, maybe about $20 a month to keep some new fans coming in.

My Facebook page brings regular traffic to my website and of course family related businesses want to advertise with me because of my big Facebook fan base.

That said I agree with Mike, I might have 40 000 fans but it is not like that amount of people see all my posts. My weekly reach is usually around 42 000... you would think it should be much higher but Facebook limit the amount of people that see your posts.

If your followers are real, then sure, the bigger the better. BUT I've seen huge Facebook pages with very low reach not to mention the very low traffic the main website got from page posts.
You need a Facebook Page strategy, an end goal. Having it and having lots of likes, isn't enough to turn a profit around. If people liked the page because of the "funny/beautiful pictures" they most surely won't be interested in what you have to sell.

As with most things online. Quality before quantity. I would rather have 100 active fans than 100,000 inactive ones. As long as you have active fans who'll like, share and comment on your posts.. Then it's obviously better to have MORE than less.. but that doesn't mean that the fan pages you see on facebook generates a single result. I've seen pages with more than 100,000 fans, who doesn't get more than 3 or 4 likes on their posts.. And that's just crap. If I had such a page myself I would probably delete it.

I know of some people who are nurturing Facebook Pages as an investment. A Page with a lot of followers is a gold mine in marketing. Of course, it’s easier said than done but you can exploit your fan page followers and lure them into your business interest. At least you already have a green pasture that is ready for taking when the time comes that you are launching a business. And even if you don’t have a business but you need views to your YouTube video, the followers of your Facebook Page can really be of help.

A well liked Facebook page is a good help for businesses. It adds prestige and boosts up your trust rating. People normally feel a page / business is trustworthy enough based on the likes they see. But this only works if you have good, helpful and relevant content because if you just order likes without good content people would just label your site as a cheat.
