Tracking daily keyword positions in SERPs

I'm curious, what tools are you using to track your keyword positions and how often to you update on them?

I have about 5 clients, each one with around 50 to 100 keywords and they want monthly reports on their keyword evolution.
As you can imagine I can't do them manually every day. So I use a tool called ranktrackr. Pretty cool, I don't need proxies I can access the reports whenever I want (both excel and PDF), it checks for all keyword positions every 24 hours and can be set to track depending on country and language, which is a big plus for me.

I've tried in the past actual software that you install, but none worked as good as this, no to mention the lack of accuracy.

So what works for you and why?

Well I'm using ProRankTracker it's the best keyword tracker I've ever used and even their free version lets you track multiple keywords in multiple search engines. They offer advanced reports, rankings discovery so you can find terms your sites are ranking for you didn't know about. Plus keyword suggestions, bulk adding and organization, scheduled reports by email which you can saved to G Drive and Dropbox. And there's API access and a mobile app too so you can check your rankings on your phone. Oh there's even a WP plugin and you can download reports in multiple formats, PDF, XLS, CSV etc. And you can track global and local rankings. The free version lets you track 2 URLs and 20 terms and then it ranges from $19 for unlimited urls and 300 terms with bronze, silver, gold and enterprise plans available. What I like most about it is the daily email report of my current rankings they send letting me know if my SEO is working or not. Tracking daily keyword positions in SERPs

Oh that looks nice enough. I think I could use that... I am currently not tracking my keywords with anything. I would really find this useful.

ProRankTracker seems to have more features for less money compared with my ranktrackr. This is why I love asking this type of questions, sometimes someone comes along with a really great idea or suggestion.
I will surely review it tomorrow and let you know how good I find it. Is it possible to add the same website on multiple free version accounts, to track more than 20 keywords?
Love the fact that you can submit an unlimited number of URLs for the $19 a month, I find it very cheap, my tool offers just 100 keywords and 20 URls for the same money.

Sure! Sharing is caring! Tracking daily keyword positions in SERPs Yeah check it out you'll like it. As for using same website on multiple accounts I don't know I don't do that and have never tried. I think it may work, but they don't want people to do that and want you to upgrade so will probably see it and end up deleting both the accounts. I do remember they did make a big deal about not having multiple accounts and saying they delete any they find they think are duplicate. Saying that though, I've got multiple accounts tracking different URLs and sometimes login to them each on same day with same IP address and never had any probs. I only have a few accs tho and hardly do that and that don't mean its the same person because before they know my IP could be a public computer or public wifi something. But perhaps they dont mind one or two accs but only go after those that use the same domain but with multiple accounts and can see it or perhaps they cant I don't know. But 20 terms isn't bad for free anyway and is enough otherwise if you need more then consider going pro will save you having to login to both and all that malarky. Specially if it's cheaper than ranktrackr and you get more bang for your dollar. I'm sure you'll reach the right decision and hope it helps! Tracking daily keyword positions in SERPs

Yes, it's way cheaper. I will defiantly buy the 19 dollars version, In have 3 big clients with about 100 keywords each. But I also have smaller clients with maximum 20 keywords to track.
So maybe I can make free accounts for the smaller clients, I will try with one at first and see what happens if I register more.
As long as I don't go over the top and be all spammy, maybe they won't mind.

Thanks again, will come back here tomorrow with a review.

Sure. And that sounds great! If it helps then thats what matters! It's all always about finding something better. Some better deal than the last. That's why it pays to shop around even after you've gone with someone or something else. And that sounds reasonable. They do have a good affiliate system in place as well proranktracker.com/affiliates with recurring lifetime commissions for referred accounts. You could perhaps find a way to have them sign up through your affiliate link if you have a lot of clients as if those same accounts go on to upgrade you can earn from that. But definitely good luck to you whatever you decide to do or how you go about with it. Keep us in the loop! Tracking daily keyword positions in SERPs

Just tried it. Set myself an account and added some local keyword with a local website along with the country Google page (google.ro)
It doesn't work. Keywords are not updated for some reason, everything is N/A and I know for sure I'm ranking on pages 2 and 3 with most of those keywords.

Maybe it doesn't work so well for keywords checking anything else except google.com and English based websites?

You have to give it a chance to populate Christian! Please login after an hour and then check it again. It usually says that at first until its done all its checks and updated it. Hows it looking now? Tracking daily keyword positions in SERPs

It doesn't work lol you're a hoot.

Well no, still NA 20 hours later. I told you, not all of them do so well on local search engines like google.ro - I also didn't like overall, to complex for so simple options.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

idealmike

Hmmm that's strange. I would have thought it would be able to tell you the results for Google.ro as well as Google.com etc. I'm sorry to hear about that. You could try sending them a message about this they will probably be able to offer you some insight and advice into it seeing as they know you could go on to be a paid customer they will. Some time to do it, time is so precious lately. I am thinking of getting an aupair in for the afternoons so that my kids and I don't get so frustrated.

I want to work less but I want to buy a property and build a house, furnish it nicely first and then I will slow down Tracking daily keyword positions in SERPs

I admire the effort that some people put in their work when they have clients. I cannot imagine myself doing a daily chore of tracking keyword positions. I understand that it is part of your duty to your clients but it is such a tedious task. I am not against what you are doing but I am only thinking of the comfort that a freelancer should not really be working like a slave.

If you're not wanting to spend a lot of money you can also go with SerpFox.com

I've used them for a while and they've never let me down. I don't think I've ever had a problem with them, they've always been up and running 24/7 Or they just go down when my laptop gets shut off Tracking daily keyword positions in SERPs

I too have used proranktracker and I can vouch for how fun it is Tracking daily keyword positions in SERPs The amount of features paired with it's price is a pretty sweet deal.

hmm. 10 dollars a month for tracking 50 keywords. About the same as my current tracker, 19 bucks for 100 keywords. So, yeah, not much of a difference, though their Intermediate package is kinnda nice, 24 dollars for 200 keywords is pretty cheap.

yeah, I purchased the $10 a month plan to test them out and once I was in love I upgraded my account lol Tracking daily keyword positions in SERPs

I do like the feature where I can give my clients a link with a password and they can check their own rankings through my serpfox account. They can't log into my account, just the page where it shows their keywords and rankings Tracking daily keyword positions in SERPs

$10 a month is very reasonable! Do they have a free trial to check them out first before you pay the $10 fee?

Thanks Cristian for a lovely topic. I am not using any software to keep track of my keywords. I did look into it about a year ago but I decided against it because I didn't want to pay a fee... however now I am quite interested to give this a go. I think it could give me some really good insights.
