SEO for Youtube internal Search?

Hello guys! Let's talk a little about doing SEO outside search engines. What about bigger than life platforms like Youtube? They have their own internal search engine.

I had clients that wanted to be first when searching on youtube a certain keyword.
So I discovered SEO for youtube exists!
Main things to consider are the keywords in title and description. As well as tags.
If the subject and niche permits you can write a small article in the description to drive real organic traffic from the search engines.
Otherwise, just use searchable keywords, there is no keyword planner for Youtube search so you'll have to presume they're pretty much the same.
Sorting your videos into playlist named after category keywords can also help.

But probably the biggest factor in Youtube rankings are the views. If you have lots of view compared with the competition, Youtube will automatically assume you have the best video on that subject.

I guess SEO for YouTube is very important. Few days ago i was reading some statistics where it state that YouTube is second (after Google) where simple people performing search for anything, then Bing and Yahoo is far behind. So, when it comes to natural organic traffic, it's smart idea to publish even short videos on YouTube and make nice SEO job done for it. BTW it's not so complicated as for websites. YouTube's auto-suggest search tool is very good keyword planer too i guess...

Does that mean that Youtube has more traffic than Bing and Yahoo? In that case Youtube is a super power site. And if has a higher ranking in Alexa than Facebook then I guess we can concentrate on making videos for traffic to our site. But with the internal search, I didn’t know that you can optimize the video via the description and the tags. Perhaps I can enhance the SEO capability of our videos by improving the keyword tags.

I also think youtube needs seo optimation,
because it is already like some search engine but filtered only videos,
so if we can handle it well, I'm sure our videos will be on highest positions

Every search feature has a type of optimization, you just have to crack it's code SEO for Youtube internal Search?

Some search features are tougher to crack than others, and YouTubes search feature is fun to toy with SEO for Youtube internal Search?

The YouTube search feature is a little more advanced than others because, you know, it's owned by Google lol. Just because it's advanced, doesn't mean it's uncrackable lol. Just focus on the same factors you would if you were putting up an article on a blog. There are a few different things that will help, and I'll cover some of it.

First: Work on your titles. Not all titles are created equal because you could accidentally be hurting your video by using too many keywords in the title, knows as keyword stuffing. Try to just get one keyword into the title so that you will have a better chance of ranking for that one keyword. Don't stuff 3 or 4 keywords in there because it could just hurt you later on.
Second: Content/Description of the video. You'll need to optimize the content or description of your video with the proper amount of keywords and making it readable. Make sure it doesn't look like it was written by a 5 year old SEO for Youtube internal Search?
Third (harder): You need to get views on your video to help increase it's position in the search features on YouTube. The more "popular" your video is, the higher it will rank just like in the search engines.
Fourth: Obtaining likes. Having a lot of views isn't the only thing that will help you increase in the platforms search rankings. You'll need to get a lot of likes, or thumbs up, in order to increase your positioning.

Now I know the first and second stages are easier than the third and fourth, but you can do it SEO for Youtube internal Search?

When you post a video on YouTube you are doing a really good thing. Some advertisers fail to realize that a good portion of their followers and prospective customers tend to use YouTube as they prefer videos to written stuff. So step 1 is to create a good video and post it on YouTube. Next you need to see to its optimization. As explained above, including a short description and several relevant keywords is of essence. Even though YouTube clearly considers the number of views you get, the keywords and tags are very important as well. Avoid posting a video without accompanying keywords and an explanatory description.

I've been rocking page 1 of Youtube and here's what I have found.
  1. Add your keyword in your title
  2. Add your keyword in the first sentence then add a call to action underneath. Don't make this more than 2 lines or it will be under the fold.
  3. Write a min 200 word description for your video
  4. At the end of your description add your name, then underneath your website name (and url if you have correlating post), then underneath that your title with your keyword
  5. Then at the very end add the url for this Youtube video
  6. Add a custom thumbnail. The thumbnail should be named as the keyword.
  7. Your video should also be named your keyword before you upload it.

Regarding the keyword research, I just do normal keyword research and then I check my competitors on Youtube using the keyword I want to use. I just see if I can beat those videos.

Great tips Lynne! One of the best I seen on Youtube SEO, straight to the point. I forgot about the custom thumbnail! It also haves to be pretty high-quality right? I always found myself to stay away from thumbnails that look like they were made in Microsoft Paint.

One day when I have buckets of cash I'll outsource my image designs but for now I have to do everything myself.

Hi Cristian thanks for your question. I think you may Google SEO and YouTube SEO is not same. It is completely different but process almost same. YouTube completely different search engine. But, it is more easy to get result on YT search rank than Google search rank. I have some method but I do not want to teach publicly and I did SEO for some channel and they got first page on YouTube. I just want to say few simple tips for YT optimization. Use long tail keywords. Do not use shot tail keyword Anyways for YT. Make your video unpublished and get some like and dislike and view before publish. And use custom thumbnail which looking very attractive. Do not need to use thumbnail from exact video. You can collect it related of subject. And so on.

Yes I have found it relatively easy to rank on Youtube, I guess it is because there is less competition on Youtube.

I use the same method of keyword research for Youtube and then just check out my competitors and what they are doing on Youtube.

And yes I also use long tail keywords, no point in targeting short keywords that are high competition.

I haven't made use of any Youtube services though, I have done everything naturally so far.
