Internet History: Nostalgic Websites of the 1990s

Do you ever wonder if there are some websites that were made in the 1990s that still exist? Perhaps you'll remember a few of these, that is if you were on the internet in the 1990s. However, for me, I was just a baby during the early 1990s.. so I never actually saw these websites, but I can sense the nostalgia.

So let's go back in time!

Memepool (1998)

Started in the early 1990s, and was apparently the first blog ever.

I did not start to use the Internet that much until the early 2000s, and so I only have a faint memory of how sites used to be like back then. I did not have an internet connection at home and only got to surf a bit on computers at university. It was nice getting a glimpse of how sites used to be like back then. They did not seem to worry that much about layout and appealing designs, that's for sure! I think it is evidence of how far the internet has come, along with web design and SEO too.

My first email was Hotmail and I shifted to Yahoo after a year. The first internet browser that I used was Netscape before I discovered Internet Explorer. The search engine that became my favorite was Ask Jeeves and I had already forgotten another search engine. Those were the days when Google was not dominant yet and social media was unheard of. By the way, the first social media that I remember was Friendster.
