What Kind Of Chair Do You Use?

As a freelancer we all know how much time that passes before breaks and one can sit in front of the computer for about 12 or 14 hours per day with tedious work.

With that being said, we've also discussed "freelancer injuries" and also talked about the importance of taking breaks but also how important it is to work ergonomically.

It's also equally important for office personnel or professional gamers to sit properly, just like it is being a freelancer.

So my question is, what kind of chair do you use?

I've just ordered this:
What Kind Of Chair Do You Use?

I chose this chair as I have many friends who speaks highly of it and I finally decided to buy one for myself.

Do you think it's important to have a proper chair?

Oh that chair looks seriously good. I am terrible, I work wherever I can with my 2 kids hanging on me and when it is really cold I have to be honest I work in bed.

Not the best way for ergonomics. But I am always jumping up whenever I work and I can only work in little bits and pieces because I have my 2 year old and 4 year old home from 12 every day.

My mom would be horrified if she knew how I worked. She is always stressing the importance of the right chair.

I will be investing in one at some stage, it just won't be today while it is cold and I am under the covers!

Haha, I totally understand you. Having this or any other type of chair won't do you any good while in bed. It's not that practical to have a nice chair in your bed. What Kind Of Chair Do You Use?

No, I didn't think so... and my husband wouldn't want me in bed with the furniture. That's just weird.

I use a chair similar to that. A swivel chair on wheels. It doesn't have the same back and lumber support as that one does and I put 2 pillows on it for extra comfiness! What Kind Of Chair Do You Use? But if you're going to be sitting in the same position for long periods of time it's important that you're sitting in a position that doesn't cause RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury). A chair with back and lumber support can only go so far. You do actually have to sit up right in it and not slouch in it which is so easy to do. Sometimes I find myself slouching and then sit up right but then I'll find myself slouching again moments after. It's like a constant battle of wills. I know that sitting up right is better for me in the long run, but slouching just feels so much more comfortable and less like you've got a plank of wood running down your back! But it's much better for you in the long run.

So yes, it's important to have a good chair, but it can only help so much. At the end of the day, it's how you sit on it that counts! You can have the best chair in the world but if you're not sitting on it right all the time it wouldn't make that much difference.

I use a normal chair that doesn’t even have a brand; I got it from Argos for around £30. It feels comfortable but I have to say it isn’t a great chair. I think a good chair is very important because it makes you more comfortable when working and as someone who has to work a long periods of time in front of your computer, having a good chair is crucial. It will also increase your productivity when you are more comfortable. I am planning on getting a new chair and this one looks great! How much is that chair?

That chair cost 2,995 SEK, which would be about $360. I do agree that one should have a good chair and that's the reason I finally bought this one. (Even though I haven't got it delivered yet.) The one I have now is probably something similar to the one you described.. And one of the wheels is actually broken, so I can't roll around the way I want without having to think about it. I love that chair. It looks comfortable and ergonomic, and it is so stylish too. I know that it is really important to invest in a good quality chair especially for us who spend several hours a day hunched in front of our computers. Unfortunately I am guilty as charged that I do not have such a great chair. I sit at my kitchen table because I do not have an office, and so I have a normal chair at the moment as a swivel one would take up more space. If I were to have an office and a proper desk I would definitely invest in a good quality chair similar to the one you showed here.

I use the back seat type for it gives me the freedom to relax and focus on the work which I do. I don't know if it is quite wrong to feel relaxed while working as a freelancer, but working with my back rested is the best posture that I enjoy working with.

I have something similar to that.I have been using that since I started working online I know I needed a comfortable chair so I got one immediately.I have come to realize a comfortable chair helps one sit for some long hours without the usual discomfort and body pains.

I almost got a laugh in reading the title. I am an executive of a big bank here so it is customary to have an executive chair, the leather one with adjustable recline. But at home, we have an office table for our desktop and the chair is the cheap plastic. It's really ironic and I would surely be teased when my colleagues get to know of my plastic chair.
