Low blood sugar

I feel that I might have low blood sugar levels. Can anyone advise me what the signs and symptoms of this are?

I suggest you go to the closest chemist, they can probably test you blood sugar level on the spot and tell you what to do

Do you feel dizzy or lightheaded? I would have to say that this might be a sign of it.

Yes I do at times. I need to make an appointment with my doctor to see.

Low blood sugar levels can cause you to feel very faint if you don't eat. You need to have your blood sugar checked by a doctor as this can be a sign of impending diabetes condition.

Eat five small meals a day, just very light. Don't eat heavy meals as this can cause your body to over react with insulin to make you tired.

Restrict your access to processed 'white' type of breads and pasta and focus on wheat varieties which are healthier anyway.

This will help stabilize your blood sugar.

Good info here. Thanks so much. I probably do not eat enough during the day and then when I do sit and eat, I eat the wrong foods or way too much.

Eating small sensible sized meals is a good idea for anyone, even someone without health issues.

Also, eating slowly with meals lasting more than twenty minutes.

This will help slow the rate at which your food is processed.

If you think you have an issue with your blood sugar, go to a lab and schedule an FBS test, that's fasting blood sugar. It's better to confirm the numbers first before doing anything about it. Now, if your blood sugar is found to be indeed low, that is called hypglycemia that can cause lethargy and much lower blood sugar can even cause you to collapse. The remedy is to eat something like biscuits or bread and drink something sweet. Coke is the best booster of blood sugar. This is the remedy of one popular singer here named Gary V. He is diabetic and when his blood sugar goes low, he would drink Coke and he would be normal again.

There are hundreds of things, that can decrease your sugar levels or how it's called: glycemia. Hypoglycemia is when those levels go down, and it can be caused by: fasting, alcohol, medicines, exercise, diet, diseases. What can you feel when you have it: headache, confusion, weakness, anxiety, irritability, high rate pulse, and you can even faint. Suggestion: go to to a physician, specially if you have relatives with any blood sugar issues, like diabetes. Take a test for it, and make some diet/life style modifications. Be cautious with your health.
