I rarely go to church. But that does not mean that I am not a religious person at all. I just choose not to go to church.
The early Christians assembled even though they knew it could result in imprisonment or their death. We have so much freedom and no fear of persecution, we want to write it off as if it's casual activity where we can opt in or opt out. Attending the assembly is a command. Saints are told not to forsake it.
Do I feel better attending worship services? Of course I do. Why wouldn't I? Did Jesus offer me salvation just so He could make me feel miserable by assembling with fellow Christians every first day of the week?
Each week that I miss church service, it is always tough for me and that has shown me that church really helps us to live better lives in all that we do. So, it is important we go to church often.
I am a devoted Catholic and I go to church every weekend as a way of strengthening my faith. It helps me in the conditioning of my mind because when you have strong faith, you have the power to withstand problems especially big problems like money matters and relationship. That is why some people enjoy being with church groups called fellowship because they find good companionship that is founded on religion. However, I don't join such groups though for I am happy being alone in the practice of my faith.
