Have you ever lived through a weather disaster?

Some time back, we had a snow storm that brought in three feet of snow, shutting down roads and schools for three days. It was a big deal as some roofs caved in near by. We were very lucky to weather the snow storm with little damage. have you ever lived through a weather disaster? And, if so, what are your best disaster preparation/survival tips?

We lived in Florida when Charlie (hurricane) moved through and it was headed right up the highway toward our house. It moved inland toward the other coast and avoided us and then two more hurricanes moved up from the opposite side of Florida coast and slammed into Tampa. Many parts of the city were under water. Luckily, we lived further down in the Bradenton area and were not very affected, except for heavy rains.

One time it snowed about 2 feet, another time it rained so much a few puddles formed in front of my house. Sorry, I live in an area where their has never and probably will never be a natural weather disaster. Kids up here have never seen a snow day.

Oh yes. Sharla just like you, the last winter we had so much snow that it was taller than our house. The City Hall shuttled down the roads and schools for a week (you can imagine our kid's joy), and I could not go to work for three days. Besides the cold I had to endure was inhuman (it was -24 degrees).

Let me share our sad experience with the harsh weather. Whenwe bought our first nice car, we were living in an apartment with no parking so the car stays on the roadside at night. After a month, our car was forced open and the stereo and some other things were stolen. We decided to move to a house with a higher rent but with a garage. Fine. That was July, the rainy season. Short of 1 month of our stay, there was this continuing storm that brought unimaginable rains that flooded our house. It’s fortunate that the house has a 2nd floor. The floodwater was waist deep in the ground floor. Ourcar was also inundated. It was a terrible experience but we had to live with it because it was our decision.

Aww, sorry to hear about this harsh weather, Well, in my country I think we are blessed with a good weather that the only problem is just a heavy downpour and that just it.We don't experience all the hurricane, snow and all that.

Where my parents used to live before is always affected by weather disaster especially when it rains. The water always enters our house and that was one of the things that made us find alternative ways to survive it.
