How would I transfer my forum database to a new hosting company?

What steps are involved in transferring or uploading a forum database to a new hosting company, assuming I wanted to move my forum to a new host?

You will need to start by downloading a copy of your database for your forum. You should save this to a very safe place just in case your computer is lost. You will need this database to upload to another host.

Some hosting companies provide transfer services, you can buy that service if you don't have much knowledge of transferring data from one server to others.

Escalate Hosting would be able to help you with this exact thing. I transferred to them from GoDaddy a while back and it was painless and seamless. Plus they offer everything GoDaddy did but way cheaper ($1.89/month).

Most of the forum owners transfer to the new hosting company using cpanel level backup. I have seen mostly cpanel level transfer from one host to another. I am guessing this is the most easiest way to do things. You can also do the mysql level transfer too but that would not be much good for the forum and may broke things here and there.
