Alertpay and Western Union are the two alternatives I've found available to almost everyone.
I suggest moneybookers as this is the only services I trusted to use, outside of paypal.
Its accepted by most websites and big companies as well as lots of gambling and gaming websites, which makes it perfect for such clients.
Alertpay. I have never used it, but I do have an account with them.

Seriously.... If libertyreserve is added, it would be very cool!
I realize this is an older faq now and some of the already mentioned places might not necessarily be active any more. But there are several newer PayPal alternatives today that might be worth mentioning for anyone that is looking for an alternative.
The first is Stripe which is very similar to PayPal but is more meant for people to take payments on your site but it can still be used in virtually the same way but their fees and things may differ slightly to PayPal's.
The other is Xoom which is now actually owned by PayPal but is a very good alternative that lets you send people money directly to their bank account and also take money straight into your bank. But its only available in the US right now but looks quite promising.
Alertpay, I've never used it before for any payments but I do have an account just in case I need it.
Any thing that can be compared to paypal is payza. It works just like paypal, it even has dispute feature, which is normally not available on most of the payment processors. There is even an advantage of using payza, you can upload funds from bitcoin or withdraw in bitcoin. Other good alternatives are neteller and skrill. You can use bitcoins with these processors.
I think there are many online remittance centers now aside from Paypal and perhaps they are giving Paypal a good competition. One of the most popular online remittance centers are Payza and Payoneer although I think Paypal remains to be number 1. There was an issue with Payza if I am not mistaken that the site was shut down and it is now operating only in Europe. With Paypal I had been with it for more than 3 years already.
