Downtime and security are the disadvantages of cloud hosting. I think you have misunderstood cloud hosting or you are not surrounding by the company of good hosting provider.
In my opinion downtime and security are the advantages of cloud hosting. For instance, I have been using digitalOcean server from 3 years now. I can hardly remember the downtime of my website. Although, it is not a conventional DigitalOcean server. Instead, I have my website deployed on managed digitalOcean server which is powered by Cloudways and I am very comfortable with their cloud hosting service.

The biggest advantage you get with cloud hosting is scalability and performance. Server resources on cloud are scalable which means you can use more resources as your traffic increases. This option is available in traditional hosting services. One of the disadvantage of cloud hosting is that deploying application on it is difficult. You need to have sysadmin experience go through a long and complicated process. However, this is not really a issue if you are deploying on cloud using a managed hosting platform, like Cloudways. With managed hosting, you get one click installation feature and managed software and configuration of other things, so you don't have to do it all manually.

To be honest, I am trying to understand what cloud hosting is. From what I understand, the website host provider has a server that runs 24/7 where your website is hosted. But in cloud hosting, I don’t see any difference at all since the cloud host also has a server 24/7 where the website is hosted. Practically, it’s the same to me. I hope someone can clarify this assumption of mine because I have a feeling that I am wrong.

VPS/VDS-remote analog of a real server (more information here). You get access to it over the network and have all the same rights as when using a physical server. You will have a personal environment with dedicated virtual processors, disk space, RAM, your own IP, and a serious backup system.

Cloud hosting is a virtual server in the cloud (multiple virtual machines that can be combined into virtual networks and additional automated services). Cloud failover server clusters serve multiple clients simultaneously, providing them with the necessary capacity and automated services: storage systems/ disk space, application servers, terminal servers, web servers, mail servers, database servers, etc.

Cloud hosting can be private or public. The advantage of the latter: low cost. But private ones are better protected, provide the user with more settings, and each client is provided with its own server cluster. In other words, large projects use cloud hosting more often, since they can ensure continuity and your product will not collapse at some point. These decisions are usually made for very large projects. the cost of cloud migration from alpacked can be expensive for small businesses, but this architecture saves hundreds of thousands of dollars in the future. Especially if you imagine guarantees of uninterrupted operation.
