Social bookmarking sites are more for sharing bookmarks of favorite sites/pages. Where as, social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter are based around interaction between the members. When used for business purposes, a social networking site such as Facebook or Google + can help you develop a strong community based around a brand or product. Of course, social networking sites often share some attributes of social bookmarking sites (such as where people link to other sites). While some social bookmarking sites such as Pinterest or Reddit have a strong community. These sites offer the best of both worlds.

Social networking sites are far different from social bookmarking sites.Well the social networking sites made for social communication among peoples through networks and it is specifically meant for link building which is a common cause for both the sites. On the other way social book marking sites are made for popularity of your personal sites.

If you like a link you can bookmark it online at a bookmarking site. That is not the same as social networking which is about friendship.
