facebook fan page is good to have traffic... there are tonnes of way through which you can get likes and hits on your page and thereby to your website easily.

I think it is better to set up a Fan Page. People are more willing to just click Like than joining a group.

I am a member of numerous facebook groups. I also have a couple of fan pages. My experience tells me fan page is a better marketing platform compared to groups. Facebook groups have more members than my fan pages, however, the groups have too many spammers. Most of the members are concerned about sharing their stuff, they do not interact. Where as my pages have genuine followers who check my posts.

It depends on the kind of website that you have and also in the niche. Let’s say your niche is pets. You can create a Facebook Group for pet lovers or a Facebook Page for the same niche. With the Group, you share it to everyone which means you cannot dominate the postings. With the Page, it is your dominion so you can do whatever you want although the followers also has the freedom to post. No you can choose which is best for your purpose.

I've been a loyal Facebook user for a long time and in the past, Facebook Pages where very effective in directing traffic for free but eversince Facebook imposed limits and fees for sharing then I began to make Facebook Groups my choice and I realized that Groups does have a lot of advantages to pages, that's if you know how to tweak it, to get the most of it.

Do you mean to say that you have to pay when you create a Facebook fan page now? And what are the limits imposed by Facebook? Anyway, the Facebook Group is also effective but the problem is the control. Unless you are the admin of the group then you get full control of the posts. Being the admin of the Facebook group will also give you the influence on the members that what you post will be noticed.
