    Is it better to delete a Facebook account or simply abandon it?

    I want to get rid of my original Facebook account that I'm no longer using. I had started this new account after I could not login to the first one. Now I can access both but only use this one account. Should I ask them to delete the account or simply walk away and abandon it?

    There is an option in facebook to delete your account, you can use that.

    That's nice to hear. I didn't know that you have the liberty to delete your own account in Facebook because I have been seeing posts (in other forums) that they want to delete their Facebook account. Anyway, I also have been thinking of renewing my Facebook account because of having so many friends, mostly people I don't really know. But another option is to create another account for my personal use which will have only people close to me for my friends there. I had been advised to just let my present account lie dormant because I may need it someday.

    There is an option in facebook to delete your account, you can use that.

    You can just deactivate your account so when you need to open it again you can just reactivate it.

    Deactivation on Facebook is a temporary action that removes your profile off the social network, and places it in a state of permanent stasis, until you may want to reactivate it again.
    Your profile is removed off Facebook, so no-one can see it or engage with it anymore. Some posts on other people’s pages will still float around.

    Deactivate and then abandon. It's better because you can still activate it in case you need to.
