Who else can read my Facebook messages?

Is Facebook staff able to read my private messages? Do they spy on what I'm saying to my boyfriend there or other friends? Who can read these private messages?

Just makes you think, right? And, maybe you shouldn't be saying anything too personal on your private messages as it's still someone else's site. And, they can read what you are saying. Not that Facebook staff is snooping on you. But if it can happen, then it might. And, just think of it that way.

There is a slim chance your messages will be read by someone other than the person it was intended for. That could be true whether a staff member of Facebook accessed your messages or a member of your family got on your account.

Just think of all the millions of people messaging on Facebook daily. No one would have time to pry into all those personal messages. Most likely, it would never even be an issue unless a message was reported by someone. In that situation, a staffer might check the reported message, but not likely pry into the other messages on that account.

The only way to get rid of an abusive private message is by reporting it. This is important to know, as Facebook relies upon members to moderate the site.

Facebook will gladly turn over the contents of your private messages to police, if they receive court order, so just watch what you say and don't make it too personal.

Just in case there is a chance of someone prying in on my messages, I don't say anything that I would not want getting out.

I have always been worried that someone would see my messages that I did not want to see. Does really make me think about things that I post as well.

Yes staff can probably read the messages but they have so many to go through that I would not worry about it too much.

From what I know, the private messages can only be read by the owner. In other words, no one can read your message unless they get hold of your login details – profile name or email address and password. And let’s say that Facebook staff can read your message, why would they? What would they get from that? I’m sure a Facebook staff will not waste time in reading messages of other people. But still, I stand with my knowledge that private messages are indeed private.
