I think more women than men use Facebook. But then again, there are many men on Facebook too as it's a good tool for marketers. Maybe the better question is whether or not Facebook is used more for business or social purposes.

I guess we can't assume/generalize it until facebook itself come out with some statistics. Also, we don't know exactly how many real people are there on facebook. So, our estimations might be completely wrong !

Yes, that is one way. But it might not be accurate. Another way is to hack facebook site

, Just kidding. I mean you can suggest the same thing to facebook, they do come back with user queries

. Hopefully they reply back to you with approximate ratio, if you tell them valid reason to know the ratio

That is from business point of view. In other aspects like playing games and socializing also women are using facebook !

And, I love playing games on Facebook when I'm bored after finishing work. Lots of really fun activities and games to play. The best part is how you can invite friends to help you out with in game items or you can gift items to friends who are stuck on a level.

As for socializing, i'm only using Facebook now to occasionally chat with friends. I don't really spend much time on the site for that.

The article mentioned how men still dominate sites like Google+ and I can't say specifically why that would be. Though I find Google+ to be more nerdy, with lots of tech/gaming related posts. I like it more. That's my sort of thing. So I can't say why more men than women are attracted to the site, as many women love gaming and tech things too.

Aren't there around 800 million plus Facebook users? So that would mean that 400 million men and 400 million women use Facebook. That's probably about average though, where you get a good mix of men vs women on a site. The site is very generic, so it would make sense.

Anyone can use Facebook as it suits their own purpose. Though maybe it is more acceptable for women to use sites such as Facebook and Pinterest for friendship. I don't ever see too many men there socializing.

Just about two years later and there are now over a billion Facebook accounts with hundreds of millions of daily users visiting Facebook daily.
I'm sure there is a good mix of both male and female Facebook users.

It’s hard to tell now that almost everyone has their own smart phone and tablets for internet use. Facebook is very popular and it is like saying that you are not civilized if you have no Facebook account. The big majority is women, I guess, because they are more emotional when it comes to posting as evidenced on my timeline. Men use Facebook only to chat but not much while women makes posts, shares posts and also chats.

Facebook 2.23 billion active users as of 2018. Add a billion each for Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram, which are all owned by Facebook and that would total to 5 Billion People. That's 2/3 of the world's population and that means gender ain't a factor.
