    Do I need to use my real name on Facebook?

    I don't want to use my real name on Facebook, so I am using a nickname. Is this acceptable? I don't want certain people to know my Facebook or be able to track me down by my real name.

    Although you are not required to use your real name for Facebook, doing so will increase the trust factor with your Facebook fans. This is especially true if you have a Facebook page based on your own freelance services.

    If you are hiding from someone in Facebook, I guess it’s okay to use a pseudonym or alias. And probably you will use another name that is far from your real name. But the disadvantage with that is the difficulty of finding you by your real friends. That is the reason why I am using my real name in Facebook because of the connection I intended with my circle of friends, relatives, colleagues, classmates and any other people that I had association.

    It's acceptable as long as you're using your real photo, and details. You can use any username you like. Facebook would confirm your true identity and if there's some discrepancies then your account will get banned or deleted.

    Facebook became more lenient now you can use a pseudonym with any kind of photo you want but you need to attached a phone number and be verified or else your account would be taken down after several days or weeks.
