What's with all the Facebook selfies?

I'm really shy so I rarely share photos of myself on Facebook, except with very close friends and family. Though most of my friends list on Facebook is obsessed with selfies, which to me seems very arrogant. How much could one person like looking at themselves?

There's a girl on my Facebook friend list. And, she seems really sweet. But, she loves sharing selfies and self portraits, like at least once or twice a day. I can't imagine taking so many photos of myself. I'm just not into it, if only cause I don't have the time to be involved in that.

I can't stand selfies. They truly get under my skin. I post pictures of myself on FB maybe once every couple of months, but they're not selfies. It's not just with the younger generation; the older generation are getting in on it as well....lol

Well,I always know that using a thing or place with people of diverse views and way of life would pose a problem and I prepare my self ahead of time.I see that all the time but I move along with it.Especially as I can't do anything about it.it always appalling.

Sounds like something teens would do not a grown person. Very immature behavior.

Some people just like to post pictures for their own entertainment and maybe it's an ego boost when they take a selfie and get more likes from friends.

This is something I would like to see. What

The Facebook behavior seems to rub off on everyone, whether affinity for selfies or the Facebook drama. I don't like either one. Though I don't mind occasionally posting a photo if it's relevant.

It just seems to be the popular thing to do on Facebook and having a traditional photo of yourself/family is even less popular. The selfie just gives the impression that you were some place doing something really fun and took a snap shot of yourself. Even if the truth is that you were just out grocery shopping and snapped a pic with your iPhone and uploaded to Facebook.

It's the "Oh look at me all the time!" Kind of thing I can't stand.
Many people even take pictures of themselves in the mirror...lolol
I just shake my head and keep looking on to other things.

I like seeing the type of selfies, when people are obviously going out and having a great time at the park, or at a concert. I have taken a few selfies of @Asmodeus and I while we've gone to concerts (Fleetwood Mac, Rush, Black Sabbath) and Jazz Festivals, as it marks a particular time in your life. Colbie (my 5yr old son) loves it when I take out my phone to take pictures while we are outside, but it doesn't mean I'm going to plaster every picture I take on FB.

I find them to be annoying. It is like one is telling everyone hey look at me! I find them to be dumb.

Selfies are the product of too many free hours and too little useful things to do with one's own life. It's easy to get caught up in the Facebook self absorbed madness, unless you have a life, job, classes, family to take care of.

I think the selfies in Facebook is more of an expressionthan being proud or bragging. With the emergence of the digital camera, we now
have a way of doing that. Some friends tell me that they feel contented when
they had posted their selfie for the day. And although I sometimes get annoyed
by seeing too many selfies on Facebook, come to think of it, what really is
Facebook for?

I think it's a psychological disorder when people are doing selfies all the time. They lack and feel the need for some recognition or validation in their lives, seeking popularity and all the things they want to happen can be falsely realized by taking selfies and sharing it all over the net.
