    Do advertisements affect ranking?

    If you have lots of advertisements on your page does that affect your ranking or make you rank lower than someone who has few or no ads on each page?

    If you spam your home page with banner ads and links to third party sites, that is going to hurt your search engine ranking.

    One of the reasons why your SERPS might have dropped is "You Have Too Many Advertisements". Did you know that too many advertisements on your page is indicative of a spam site? You want to make sure that the ads on your page do not exceed 20% of the available space, especially not above the fold. Consider one ad in a top sidebar and one in your header, and then one about halfway down your sidebar so that you have three ads above the fold. Usually left sidebar ads get the most hits so this should be your main focus for an important ad.

    Yes advertisements on website does affect ranking negatively. If your website don't have any advertisements, it will be easy to rank and vice-verse.

    Make links nofollow thats it then you will have no problem .. use seo smart links plugin for it if your site is based on wp..

    This is the first time that I have encountered a discussion about the relationship of advertisements with the ranking of the website. I am not an SEO specialist and I’m only assuming this reply based on my logic. I don’t think advertisements affect the ranking of the website because search engines can consider that banners as contents also. It is silly for the search engines to identify the details of the contents if they are legitimate articles, threads in a forum or an advertisement.
