    I was reading elsewhere how one blogger says that 1/3 of her traffic comes from search engine traffic but only 3% of her income comes from people who visit via search engines. So maybe it's not really worth pursuing, depending on what product you are offering as many times a person won't buy on first visit to a site. That's where email marketing and getting your site visitors to opt in comes into play.

    Though search engines can give you traffic, there is no guarantee of conversion (into sales or subscribers) as the people hitting your page from Google search are 'cold' prospects, not warmed up in any way to what you have to offer. If they stuck around for half an hour to read your content, then you might make a sale, but not many search engine visitors will do more than glance at your page before clicking away to another link.
