    is it okay to buy links?

    please i have a site which currently is working fine, good alexa ranking and ranking 1 for most keywords but i have not much backlinks on alexa i see only 56 but on google webmaster there are 687 i am thinking of buy a link from the link below but i dont know what negative effect that might have on my site, if it can damage the seo then i will leave it.

    Would these backlinks be do follow or no follow? On their webmaster pages, Google talks about how sites are not supposed to be selling do follow links.

    Would these backlinks be do follow or no follow? On their webmaster pages, Google talks about how sites are not supposed to be selling do follow links.


    How would Google know your backlink from that site is paid for, even if it's do follow? Why would they not think the link was legitimate such as a site being suggested by the blog owner?

    Maybe the only way Google would know this would be if the link is on a blog that does not actually relate to your specific niche. As often, people will purchase backlinks from many different high page rank sites, just to gain link juice, rather than trying to target them to the same niche as the site being linked to. And, the logic is, a site owner or blogger will usually just link to sites which are similar to his. So that's how Google might know.
