    Do you enable the signature line on all forum posts?

    On many forum software, there is an option to enable signature line on each post. For instance, as you make the post, you can simply tick the box (or leave unticked) to enable the signature line. I'm wondering if it might be a better option to only enable forum signature on select posts that relate directly to your site, rather than every post made on that forum as some posts might not be related to your site content.

    Doing this would cut down on the number of unrelated links you are getting from sites. That could help your search engine position if Google sees you are getting more related links back to your site.

    Another good reason to limit where your signature line appears on a forum is that your product advertised in the signature link might not really match the over all theme of the forum. By only enabling the signature link on related discussions, your signature link won't seem out of place to the forum staff and they are less likely to delete your posts as spam.

    For link building purposes it is good if you limit your signature link, otherwise you can use signature link on all the posts to get benefit from promotion.

    I have done some and not enabled them. This way it does not look like you are only there for a link.

    Absolutely. In fact, I don't hang around much in forums that do not offer signature links. There are plenty of places to talk that offer all the trimmings - why waste your time and wit posting on infertile grounds?

    I used to only allow signatures to be used by the staff only as I didn't want my members spamming links and text and even images all over their signatures but these days, I allow them to have their signature show throughout the entire board. That way they can promote what they want 24/7 and it helps out the site as well Do you enable the signature line on all forum posts?

    And, a signature link is likely to attract more active users and keep them coming back if they know they will keep the signature only if they keep posting.
