What do you think about major sites that have sponsor ads?

I don't mind seeing advertising on a smaller site as I know those ads help fund the site and keep it running. However, even on some major corporate sites like Amazon, you see sponsored ads. These sites don't need the money, so why are they allowing competitor to advertise products there?

Who can say how much money Amazon is earning off their site and when you consider all the expenses involved there, maybe they actually need the advertising money from sponsor.

I don't really like seeing sponsor ads on any site, which is why I use an ad blocker. I rarely see advertising on sites anymore. Though some sites will stop you from seeing their content if you block ads. If that happens, I just move on to another site for the same content.

Advertising on a big site looks really cheap and unprofessional . If I see ads, I am likely to click away to another website. A major retail site should earn enough money from sale of their own products without having to bother me with banner ads.

I usually see the sponsored ads in the sites of media network particularly the online newspapers. The pages are full of ads and there are even ads right inside the news report. On the first time I had encountered an embedded ads in the news, I was surprised to hear something. I didn’t know that it was a video of the advertisement. From what I heard, those big sites earn from those sponsor ads that probably cover their expenses.
