How many ads should you place on a page?

I have one ad block on each blog page, above the post. Also, there is an ad block for Adsense and two ads that are from private advertisers. Also, I have one affiliate banner on the side bar. Is this too many ads? I'm worried about overloading my pages with too many ads.

Try to place minimum ads as much as possible you can say 1 OR 2 ads per page. Else it will ruin reputation of your page & also increase loading time of that page.

The thing is that you have to maintain a good proportion between ads and content.

Remember if you are using too much ads and very little useful content on a page then your site visitors might not want to visit you again.

Think of it from your reader's point of view and what works best for them. After all, those are the people who are coming back to your blog on a regular basis. If your blog is congested with huge, unsightly ad blocks they will desert you. It's understandable you will want to earn money. However, you can damage your own credibility if you make your profit motive too obvious.

Often it's more profitable to have a private advertiser, not associated with Adsense who will pay top dollar for the ad space you are renting out on your blog.

Other options include affiliate programs that feature products similar to your blog niche.

Just be careful not to make your entire blog one big affiliate review. Whatever you recommend should be thoughtfully presented. And, only represent affiliate products you have actually tried and can confidently say are the best.

Doing this will help you establish trust with the people who regularly visit the site.

There's no saying you actually need to have any ads on a page. Also, you might just choose to have ads on some pages and no ads on any other pages.

Actually that really depends on your website.
You can put up as many as you like BUT as long it's not annoying to the visitors on your web site.
Because if that is so then they won't be reading your content that much and they would most likely go away quickly if they find your commercials annoying.

Adsense allow upto 3 ads in a page.

However, you are using 1 adsense and 3 other ads in same page. I think it is too much.

Additionally adsense do not love to have other ads with their ads too.
