What would be an average price be for writing an article?

What would be an average price be for writing an article that is 3 or 4 paragraphs in lenght? Sometimes I keep being asked (elsewhere) about my fees for writing such an article about one topic or another but I don't seem to have the correct price. I want to know what is more or less the standard. 10 dollars? 20 dollars? 50 dollars? Thanks for any insight!

P.D. This may also help me offer said service here in SEOClerks too depending on how it goes.

You need to find out where your place is. People charging low are anyway not your competition. Those buying cheap often end up in a mess. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR – this is always true. Real quality gets the better of everything else and makes it to the top ultimately.

The writing industry, for one, has not been spoiled by lowballers and cheapsters. Lucrative opportunities ARE there, just that they have moved to a different place. Big or corporate companies still pay hundreds and thousands for their copy. There are so many magazines and publications that pay top dollar. We just don't focus enough on this market segment and that's why miss the lucrativeness writing actually has.

Thanks aloksof. I'm affraid I cannot really deliver good quality for $5 to $8. Some very generic written stuff at best (still original content though. i.e. no plagiarism). I will keep this info in mind, though. Thanks!

Its completely up to you to decide the price of your service. And if you think your writing quality will match with the price you are asking for; you will definitely get buyers.

For writing an article around 1000 words 5$ to 6$ is enough in starting. If the content is too good, you can pay more to them.

Always keep in mind Quality Content is King. And for quality content you have to pay high. And for perfect quality you need the Perfect people. In my opinion High quality content price is 5$ for 100 words.

Hey peeps,

Pay peanuts and you get monkeys - simple.

The people on here writing articles for $2 - do you really think you are going to get a top quality article from them? These will be articles that are just a rehash of other articles on the internet - quickly written but just changing the words here and there to pass copyscape - the quality will be poor, the English will be poorer, and the content far from original!

I can understand that some people do not have the budget to pay for top quality content that gives real value to the reader, but all they are doing by purchasing cheap content is making sure that visitors to their websites leave - quickly! If you want a high bounce rate on your website and no sales - by all means get that cheap content.

I have been writing full time as a freelancer for five years and have a wide range of clients that are willing to pay me varying rates. Some guys pay me as much as $25 for 500 words of quality content whilst I also have some that do not want to pay more than $7 for the same amount of words. Which of the two do you think I go the extra mile for? Which of the two do I make absolutely sure is the very best work that I produce?

I have set up an account here yesterday just to have another sales funnel and am offering my services at the sort of rates I would normally balk at. I am not really that bothered if it takes off or not as I am very busy as it is both with my writing and with SEO at the moment and never have trouble sourcing new work from the many other freelancing platforms that I use.

I would like to pay according to the research involved in the writing.
Well researched, engaging and well formatted content must cost between $50 to $100 for 1000 words.

I personally use one of my friend and pay him $20 - $50 per article, so find someone who know your niche.

I guess that $100 for 1,000 words of an article is highly technical with contents and lots of information. It is very attractive to be a writer for that research paper but I don’t think it is for me because I want to write something that I will enjoy. It is a big headache when you are writing something that you just depend on the research as if you are learning while writing the article. When I was co-blogging, I would write from my head and that was the best experience for a writer.
