    Copyright violations on a forum

    What type of copyright concerns could a forum face if members started posting copyrighted material? And, how can you ensure you are not hosting illegally obtained copyrighted articles or posts on your site?

    Make sure that if you do find something that is copyrighted you take it right off your site. And also always give credit where credit is due.

    Most images are copyrighted. So if someone posts an image on your forum, just assume it's under copyright protection and insist that it be accompanied by a source link or otherwise delete it.

    Any photos that you can prove are yours which have been taken from your site to use on another could be considered stolen. You could report this issue to your lawyer for action or ask Google to make the site owner taken them down.

    For the company that runs my forum, if my forum was to be caught with copyrighted material without permission, I would be given a certain window of time to remove it and fix the issue, and if I don't then my forum would be shut down permanently without any chance of getting it back.

    Regarding photos, it is recommended to allow only personal owned photos on your site. It would be a big issue if your site is complained of copyright infringement. For a forum, I think it is the poster who would bear responsibility because it is clear that the copyrighted post was the action of the poster.
