How do you deal with impossible to please customers?

Sometimes, I have a customer who is so picky and demanding and even when I do my best work, they are not satisfied. And, I know it's not my fault as other customers are perfectly happy with the same results. How do you deal with impossible to please customers?

Ask them what they want to make them happy. I would try to please them and then most likely not work with them again.

Chances are, no discount or extra you offer will make this type of person happy and no matter how much you bend over backwards to please, you will still end up with negative feedback and complaints.

At some point, you will need to point your picky customers back to your sales page and quote what it says so they understand what you say you offer is ALL you offer, nothing more and if they want more, then they are welcome to pay for it. That's just business and you need to draw the line on this type of behavior.

Ask the client up front what they want and get all instructions in writing before you start work. Then, later if the client says they wanted something different, you have proof otherwise.

I would try to come to a arrangement with the customer even if I have to offer free work, reputation is a big deal when you provide services. How do you deal with impossible to please customers?

Yes this is what you need to do. That way you are both clear on what is expected from you.

You just have to barrel through it and just do as best as you can. Work hard and let them know that you are working hard, and if you have concerns, express them.

Follow up with them, and do all you can for them to please them. If they are a big pain in the behind then I would not work for them again.

Make sure to take screenshots of any personal shots against you, in case you need it as evidence. Some people just don't understand, no matter how hard you try to explain something to them.

These people are most likely seeking a discount or refund and hope by being difficult and picky they can make you give up the job which has already been started or mostly completed and forfeit your money. It's a scam, but rarely reported.

I just do my best and try to please the customer. It is hard sometimes but this is the job that I choose!

Leave negative feedback for the buyer and a thumbs down so other sellers know not to work with this difficult person in the future. Also, report them as they are trying to get free services. That sounds scammy.

Just trudge on and do the work that is required and hope to please them!

Once you gain enough credibility and good reputation, you won't have to deal with difficult customers anymore and will be able to afford to hand pick which customers you work with.

Handpick?? How? You can't choose who places an order with you here.

Unfortunately in this business you can only stay away from people you've already had recorded experience with. To cancel orders just because you don't want to deal with people, or because other people say the customer is bad isn't a practical way of running a business.

You either want to run your services or you don't.

Even in the "outside" world, a business owner or worker can't make 100% of the clients happy. There will always be the ones who you have to prepare yourself for, and the ones who you have to keep record of everything (keeping screenshots, conversations, etc).

I haven't had any horrible experiences yet, however now a days, with the unpredictability of people, you have to be like this.

It's sad, but that's they way it goes sometimes.

Not every freelancer works on SEOClerks. And, for those who do, you can always reject an order if it is coming from a difficult to please buyer (such as someone you have worked with before and know will cause trouble). In this way you can choose whom you work with.

Yes, you can choose to reject their order AFTER you've already dealt with them before and know they are impossible to please, but you've still had to deal with them. You can't avoid them.

It helps to have clout when working on a services site as that gives you options and chances to get more customers, even if you turn a few down. You should not be obligated to work with everyone that comes along, especially if they are being difficult or not treating you right.

In your time of being a freelancer, you will surely find people who are hard to deal with, some may seem hard to please but that shouldn't discourage you. You need to remember, you are talking across the internet so how they are speaking may be different with how you are interpreting it. Now if you know they are mad, just try to keep the situation calm by staying calm and being respectful yourself. Don't feed their frustration and don't give them a reason to be unpleased. If you cannot handle a member, just contact support and let them help.

You could always raise your prices and that will allow you more money for your work. This could also provide you with a better class of buyers who are not so picky.

At least with a higher price, you are more compensated for your time and effort and if you encounter any pickiness from the buyer while doing the job, then you got more money for your trouble.
