Am I Missing Something?

As I look through various comments, it seems like losing Followers is the number one complaint. I use Social Marketing companies alot and my major issue is...am I getting real people. If I am, it's my job to keep them. I expect a percentage of new followers to drop off. That's what people do.

The hope is that the new followers become active, begin making comments, etc. But losing people is just part of what happens when you're dealing with anything. Particularly Social Media.

What is it that I'm missing?

You're not missing anything.

Fake followers and fans start to drop as soon as social networks start to ban those profiles.

Real followers and fans also drop because they aren't interested in the subject or they don't like being spammed to death. People are expecting 1000 targeted FB fans that will all be interested in what they offer for a price of 5$. Everyone would be a millionaire right now if that was true.

With social media, you should be dynamic to maintain the number of your followers. I agree that a few would leave and some new ones will come in. But the essential part when it comes to followers is the loyalty and you can only earn that with your informative posts to give your followers a feeling that they get a benefit in following you.
