I have had this happen to me a few times. But with sites like SEOClerks you are much better off because you will get paid if you do the work. There are many people out there that will scam you for money if you let them but you just have to know if you find a great site like this one, stick with it!

If you decide to freelance on your own, only work with buyers who are willing to pay up front. Otherwise, you never know if you will actually get paid. Working as an SEOClerks member, you will get paid, so long as you complete the job as requested, on time.

And, the advantage of asking the buyer what he wants specifically before you start is how he can't come back later and complain when you do exactly what he said. Obtaining clear instructions on how to proceed is the key to performing the job according to the client's wishes and ensuring they are happy after the fact. Talking with the buyer helps clear up any misunderstandings or unreasonable expectations they might have about what you will or will not do as part of the service.

Yes I always do this so I know what they expect from me. I also always send updates on how things are going so they know that I am working on what they need. This has helped me out greatly.

On this site, if you complete the work you will get paid. As for doing it outside of SEOCLerks that can be challenging. That is why I would recommend doing work for freelancing on this site because you know that you are covered.

Very good advice! c:

The client won't know you are working on the project or how things are going without these updates, so it's a good idea to let them know often what progress you have made.

Yes and I have found that when I update them, I get them to answer my questions back faster as well if I am having any issues.

Expect your money up front before you do any work. Otherwise you can't be assured of payment. If you choose to forgo up front payment, be sure it's only with a trustworthy client who has paid you reliably many times before.

Even then, i would still ask for half payment up front. This is something which worked for me in the past when writing freelance hubs.

Would you say that if they are not willing to give half, you have not worked with them? How do you handle that?

Do you only request upfront payments Beverly? Or if you have worked for someone for a while, would you consider letting them pay you after the work is done?
