Business vs personal email

I have one email address now with Gmail that I use for business and personal reasons. If I'm signing up for an email newsletter, then I use this email address. And, I get all my bill notices there too.

Friends can email me at my Gmail.

Lately, I have been doing some freelance work and had some inquiries to my email box.

Some days, I almost miss important emails as they are crammed in with the less important spam mails.

I am considering a business email address that I only use for freelancing. Is this a good idea?

I'd recommend a business email address, Austin -- even if just to keep organized. The other benefit is that people will automatically associate it with a professional image. Well... there's that and the fact that (even still) some sites won't accept gmail addresses. The good news is that Gmail works with any address, and it can be configured to send, receive, and reply from all of them. I think that info is in the settings.

Never use a cheap, throw away email for your business, not even Gmail as this will look very unacceptable. Always use an email address that is associated with your site domain. This will look more professional and help you to obtain customers quicker as they will perceive your services to be more legitimate than someone using the Gmail address.

Also, you can't send lots of emails if you are using Gmail. You can only send about fifty emails a day before your email is locked for suspicious activity.

Your host will usually offer email service. For instance, it would be yourdomainemail@yourdomainname.com.

This is an example of what your email address would look like and of course it will vary based on what domain name you have chosen.

You can receive email to that address and use it to send email to others. This will present a more professional image to your customers than Gmail or Yahoo email.

Yes this is a great idea. I have several email addresses. Some are for business and others are personal.

You can buy an autoresponder like GetResponse for this purpose to do broadcast mailings to your list, rather than using Gmail for that. I don't know how it works for sending individual emails though as I've never tried it for that.

It is better to use different email account for the different purpose. I have an email id which I use for a financial purpose (for instance, my bank account, credit cards, paypal etc.), I have a business email that I use for business purpose. I have a personal email that I use for personal communication. Create different emails for different purpose and connect all emails with one acount.

Yes, you're on track. I don't use my personal email for any of my business transactions. it could be hacked especially if it about signing up for anything online or using it for my clients. so yes, get another email for your business.

I also used to have just 1 email address that is like a catch basin for all the emails that I receive and that includes spam emails. When I was advised to create an email address for a category, it eased my problem with the email. I have my email address for personal and I have one for business. I also have another one for my freelancing. And if needed perhaps I will create another one for a specific use.
