What's your minimum per hour rate for freelancing?

On some freelancing sites where I have listed my work, the buyers want to pay as little as $3.00 per hour. And, this seems like a very small amount of money, way below minimum wage. If I wanted, I could just as easily get a local minimum wage job and earn three times that sum of money per hour easily. Why do buyers think I would work for such a small amount of money?

I would charge whatever the minimum wage is for the state, rather than some random number as that amount will most likely reflect what it would take to survive in one's local economy.

For me, it depend on volume of workload, i am trying to get $20 if it's one or two hours work, but sometime it drop even to $5. Depend on competition too. I remember times charging $40 per hour, but... it was years ago, when there was no Fiverr and similar sites, i was working on Elance and making money for leaving, now it's tough...

And, how many hours does it take to research and write each article? Do you get enough money for the time you are putting into it?

When I was working on upwork, I had listed $5 as my minimum per hour fees. However, I did not get a single client who was willing to pay me $5. Therefore, I bid on fixed jobs, the jobs that paid fixed amount for completing the task. Based on my expertise and experience I wa snot asking too much, but there were no clients for me. These days I have been comissioned a work that pays me $100 per month by working 2 hours every day.
