    What do you expect from your forum staff?

    Do you have specific guidelines on what is expected from your staff? Do you expect your staff to be on forum a certain number of hours per day? What type of tasks do you ask from your staff?

    I would want my forum staff to be on site every day if possible, unless there's a real life emergency. It doesn't take very long for them to check into the forum. And, a few minutes time checking on my forum is not really too much to ask.

    It's very important that you organize your staff and lead them the right way. If you have multiple staff members, I'd suggest arranging them to different parts of your forum. It will significantly ease their job, yet you will cover full forum.

    You should expect them to keep track of what is going on, make sure that everyone is up-to-date, solve issues caused by sloppy members and educate them, not primarily punish and of course, create quality threads and actually communicate with members.
