How often do you edit your forum responses?

Sometimes, I'll go back after creating a forum response and edit a few times, especially if the response seems off topic to what was being discussed. It's easy enough to get caught up in a side line discussion with another member that is not really related to what was being originally talked about and editing brings my response back in line with what the discussion was about.

I edit my responses often... I sit in front of the computer, reading my post over and over... Whether it's because there was a spelling error, or I felt I had to re-word something I will change it.

I'm almost OCD when it comes to my writing, things have to be worded, the way I want them to. If it's not, then it natters away at my brain until it's fixed. How often do you edit your forum responses?

If I see some obvious error in my forum post, then I might come back later and fix it. Other than that, I write very spontaneously as to what is on my mind and then move on quickly so as not to stagnate or get weighed down by procrastination or tiny details. Spontaneity is an important part of my creative writing process, so I don't want to squash it with too many revisions, even for forum posts.

I don't mind editing a post of a forum member for punctuation or grammar. Some people say that's picky behavior but it's my forum and I run it, so it's my job to do right.

You have the right to do this as forum owner or staff, however it could lead to friction with your forum members if they see it as an invasion of privacy or censorship.

The question was more about how often you edit your own posts. Some people just get picky about their own posts. It makes sense, especially when you consider this is a public forum.

At times I get frustrated with this forum and a few others, because it only allows you a 30 minute time frame to make any changes. When I see a mistake, and can't fix it... Ummmm Yeah, I kinda gets to me...lol

Sometimes, I have joked that this is why I opened my own forum so that I could have power to edit my own posts for an unlimited amount of time. How often do you edit your forum responses?

And, in some ways, that's a huge advantage to being a forum owner in that you can fix your own post and correct errors, days and even years later if they still fall short of your own expectations.
