How long are your forum discussions/responses?

Sometimes, I have great spurts of creativity and can blog a lot on every forum discussion, writing very lengthy responses or discussions. And, other times, I can only think of one simple response for a discussion. Either way, I try to contribute the best possible content whenever I'm responding on a forum so as to build the community in a positive way and not just spam with useless answers.

What is your policy for discussion/response length when posting on a forum?

If I feel like posting a lot, then I will. But, if the same thing could be said with just a few words, then I will most likely go in that direction. There is no need to post a paragraph when just one or two lines will say the exact same thing. Also, not every forum member likes reading long posts.

Not everyone is interested in carrying on a two hour forum conversation and just post little one liners here and there to keep the discussion going.

I don't have any set rules on how long a post should be, just so long as it contributes in a meaningful way to the conversation. If you stifle someone's creativity by insisting that every post be three lines long or over a paragraph then you will most likely get fewer posts on your forum.

The length of my post, whether I am posting a new discussion or replying to a thread, depends on my mood to write and on the subject matter. Some topics can be very interesting, some are moderately interesting and some are relevant but not interesting enough. However, if I have something to share, I still post a reply. The average length of my posts is maybe 100 words on a rough estimate. But it becomes longer when I am in the mood and I am well versed with the topic. However, I try to restrict myself in writing too long because some readers are turned off with long replies.
